What people are saying about Knysna
Our tour guide Gerhard Pretorius gave us lots of interesting information about the areas we travelled through. He was very carefully planning our days, arranging restaurant visits, tour activities and re-confirming accommodation. He kept everyone well informed about the schedule. Our group was getting along very well with each other so all of us had dinner together with the tour guide every night. The restaurants proposed by the tour guide were all excellent and very special. Most likely, someone travelling individually on the Garden Route would not find these nice places. Since this was a combination of Garden Route and Wine Tour, we changed bus and tour guide in Stellenbosch. Our new tour guide Moudi and the new group were also very pleasant and again we all had a good time having dinner together. All the activities were exactly as advertised and we enjoyed them very much.
Tsitsikamma national park is a must see for everyone travelling through the garden route. The Indian ocean meets the storms river in one of the most impressive gorges I have seen. An almost untouched paradise where nature amazes you with her strenght and cuddles you with her calm, all in the same place. To peddle a kayak is absolutely the best way to visit its river. We started our tour with an introduction on how to navigate the dangerous and yet attractive waves of the ocean through the gorge, where calm takes over. Our guides, Clinton and Evan were very knolegable and told us about the variety of fishes, birds, plants and rocks of this amazing place. They were always making sure everyone was feeling comfortable and enjoyed this adventure at most. Absolutely recommended!
The tour was really good - we were 12 people and the age was pretty mixed! :) The hostels we slept were amazing ( 2 times directly at the beach ) I had a single room which I just can highly recommend..in a dorm they had to share 2 times with 10 other people but it was the beginning of the festive season. I had the vegetarian option and can absolutely not complain, the food was every day really good!! You can choose every morning what you want for breakfast- eggs, fruit salad.. So for this price it was absolutely worth to do the tour :)
Very well organized tour, we visited beautiful places in a few days, our guide Christine, was fantastic, she has a great personality, always taking care of each member of the tour and every detail. The group size is perfect, you get to meet interesting people form all over the world. I would definitely recommend this tour for anyone, is very well suited for families, groups of friends, couples, etc. You get to choose the activities that you want to do, so it's very flexible.
The Garden Route is best to roll, when your guide is named Nicole! Reliable programm, backpacker accomodations well run and mostly near the beach, relaxed tour guide best informed (as an insider even about details you won't find in traveller books) and more than willing to inform us untiringly. Individual requests during the tour were respected; always looking to find real solutions for these. Check prices for optional activities in advance. Thanks for a great week!
