We had a great driver, Paul. We departed Limerick around 7:55 & arrived in Killarney at the Outlet Center around 9:30. We walked around the town, and had coffee & used the toilets at the Outlet Center while waiting for 2 buses from Dublin & Cork to arrive (& also people from Killarney). The tour officially started at 11:00. People doing the Ring of Kerry tour departed in two buses & people doing the Dingle tour were on Paul's bus. We made several brief stops at scenic points for photos. We made 20-minute stops at Inch Beach & at the BeeHive Huts (which cost extra to see up close, but you could take photos from the road). We stopped for lunch in Dingle from 2:30-4 & then returned to Killarney to meet the other buses around 5:30 & get people back on the bus they arrived on. We got back to Limerick around 7:00 that evening. The only problem we had was after we left Inch Beach (1st stop) around 12:15, it was more than 2 hours before we had a chance to use the toilets again (in Dingle).
Very well organized trip. Taken by minibus to Kate Kearny’s cottage by Kevin who gave lots of local info on the way. Walked through the Gap.. it took 2.5 hours of walking at good and steady pace (I’m in my 50s and fairly fit). The pony and traps were busy too and many passed by with happy passengers. The boat trip back through the lakes was so scenic and our boatman was so knowledgeable and funny .. met at Ross Castle by Kevin again and driven back to hotel .. this is a great trip , you need to decide if you want to walk the Gap or go through by horse and trap .. the weather was good and that helped .
My husband and I booked this fabulous tour of Killarney National Park the day before we went. An easy bus ride through flat parts of the park, followed by a fantastic jaunting car ride up and over the spectacular Gap of Dunloe, a pause for an Irish coffee and snack midway at Brandon’s Cottage, then a small, open boat ride across three lakes and two rivers, finally ending at our starting point at Ross Castle, a 15th Century tower house castle. An incredible way to see so much of the park. Definitely a highlight of our Ireland trip!
DJ is a special person. Not only did he ensure everyone's safety and pleasure throughout the day, he was very generous with his comments, stories and songs. He has a way of engaging people to participate and share their joy of the moment. Of course, it helped that the scenery along the Ring of Kerry was spectacular and the weather was exceptionnally good. To my wife, daugther and myself, this turned out to be a magical day for us.
We loved our adventure through the Dunloe Gap - O'Connor AutoTours was most accommodating getting us where we needed to be (we were late), the horse and trap 7-mile ride was great fun with friendly, competent driver, and the boat trip on the river and lakes back to Kilkenny was exhilarating - amusing pilot. A great way to see spectacular scenery. Highly recommend.
