Top Attractions in Kiev

Kiev is not only the capital city of Ukraine, but an exciting and historic metropolis. Visitors can get the most from a trip to Kiev by taking guided tours.

The city's Cathedrals are not to be missed. Essential to the city's architecture and atmosphere, they reflect various periods in the history of Ukraine. A tour guide can provide invaluable information on historical and architectural elements.

St. Michael's Cathedral is perched on a bluff in the Upper Town area. The cathedral, which overlooks the Podil neighborhood, dazzles with its elaborate gold domes.

The exterior of St. Sofia Cathedral Ukraine was remodeled in the Ukrainian Baroque style in the 17th century. The interior shows its Middle Ages origins, with eleventh-century friezes and mosaics. St. Sofia was the first Ukraine landmark on the World Heritage List.

Andrew Descent is a long, winding brick path bridging the Upper Town and Podil neighborhoods. Dotted with historic landmarks like the Castle of Richard the Lionheart, Andrew Descent makes its way down to Podil's popular Kontraktova Square.

Independence Square is the main plaza in Kiev. Despite its World War II destruction, the rebuilt square with its fountain and monument combines history, beauty, and modern commerce.

Friendship Arch is another can't-miss attraction. The lovely titanium arch rises above granite statues celebrating the union of Ukraine and Russia. Obolon, Podil, and Troeschina are visible from its observation deck.

A guided tour including the Mother Motherland statue allows visitors to experience the awe of a 62-meter tall statue honoring thousands of war heroes and workers. The Motherland statue sits majestically atop the Museum of the Great Patriotic War in the Pechersk district.

What people are saying about Kiev

Amazing experience - thank you Johnny and Gamma Tour!

I've opted for a two day tour, because I thought one day just wouldn't be enough to visit all the places and take enough pictures. The first thing said by our amazing guide, Johnny, is the same - two days are definitely needed to explore the Exclusion Zone. Johnny has been amazing at managing expectations (don't expect a 5 star hotel, don't expect mint condition german Autobahn roads), while pointing out all key safety measures taken throughout the trip. He has been an attentive and charismatic leader, walking us through places I dreamed of visiting. While the place definitely holds heavy memories and will affect you emotionally (I would compare it to a Dachau visit from this perspective), Johnny has also been a fun and light-hearted beacon throughout the trip. His knowledge of all the Chernobyl-related events and his accurate and flawless English are also key elements to point out. Of course, there are certain places that we didn't visit - but he summarized those locations as well.

An experience I'll never forget - excellent

Excellent tour guide who looked the part and knew his knowledge. He made the whole process easy, with really good jokes and was very informative! He's a massive credit to the company. I'd say it would have been better if we could have gone in more buildings but I understand its dangerous. He also was able to sort me out a geiger counter which made the trip even better, thank you so much excellent day and one I won't forget ever!

Pleasent underdog of chernobyl tour guides

Very exciting trip, well worth the time. Out of all the tour guides we chose the right one with Alex, he was very polite and funny. He and the driver made our once-in-a-lifetime trip just how we imagined, showing us the most iconic sights to see in the zone, talking about the history of the various locations.

Chernobyl and Prypiat Private Day Tour from Kiev Reviewed by Antoan, 10/07/2019

Amazing day trip made all the better by Irina.

We couldn’t have had a better guide for this tour. Irina has worked at the plant in more recent year’s and her husband used to live in Pripyat. This was a place very close to her heart and I could tell she absolutely loved this job making the experience all the better for us. Perfect day trip.

Outstanding tour with excellent tour guide Lisa

Awesome tour with great lunch and so educational. Our Tour guide Lisa was very respectful to the area and very knowledgeable. Thank you to Nikolai for driving us all day. I highly recommend this tour with this company. Thank you from Anthony Johnson and Adam Fowler.
