What people are saying about Khao Lak
Taxis were very clean and drivers very polite and helpful. I would highly recommend this service above Emirates transfer at an extortionate price
Elephants are very well looked after we got the chance to proapre a meal for them, then fed them also mud and bath them. So relaxing and joyful environment with great trainers helping and explaining their day to day life with the elephants
A really great day with great staff. Our only moan would be our pick up being 45 minutes late which is not much fun when you have got up at 4.30am.
Thoroughly enjoyed the turtles and bamboo rafting. Didn't realise lunch was included and it was absolutely delicious. Just didn't feel very comfortable at the elephant sanctuary, elephants seemed cared for but felt it was enforced trekking and bathing. We didn't do trekking as didn't realise you could but wouldn't have done it anyway. We did get in pool with elephant but not for long. The pool wasn't very big.
We had a wonderful excursion with our driver and guide, Ran. The little Amazon canoe ride was really peaceful and beautiful. We saw some snakes sleeping on the trees as well as birds and lizards. The mangrove trees were spectacular. We went to the less visited national park called Sri Phang Nga. We fed quite a few fishes and started our trek (500 m) through the forest. It was quite a gentle trek and our guide (Ran) was very knowledgeable and showed us the flora and fauna as we were walking. The Tam Nang waterfall was spectacular and was in full flow as it was the rainy season. It was very impressive as we felt the spray from the water. It is one of the highest falls in Khao Lak. After a lovely lunch in the national park we went to the Romannee Hot Springs. It was therapeutic and relaxing but we had to be careful with the hottest pools!! It was a lovely experience though. I will recommend this itinerary as an alternative to staying on the beach.
