Full description
Thanks to its wine, jerez or sherry, the equestrian tradition, the bulls, flamenco, and motor racing, Jerez has been known far and wide for many years. The Muslims left a deep impact on the town including the layout of the quarters situated at the heart of the old Arabic city town center such as San Lucas and San Mateo, where the church of the same name is to be found, the Market Square, and Riquelme Palace. But without a doubt, the most important Al-Andalus feature is the Alcázar de Jerez within the Mosque, the Arab Baths, the Olive Garden, and the Baroque palace of Villavicencio built upon the ruins of the Islamic palace, where you can find the original camera obscura.

The Tacita del Plata is considered the oldest city in the Western World. An open, cosmopolitan city, its port was chosen by Columbus as the point of departure for his second voyage to the New World. The city's renovation as the port to The Indies then brought about an era of economic, cultural splendour, when Baroque palaces with their characteristic towers offering amazing views were built.

In Cadiz, discover the golden dome of the cathedral, and the remains of the original cross-fire defence system. See the remaining sections of the walls and semi-bastions in La Puerta Tierra. Stroll through the Campo del Sur for a view of the Los Mártires and Capuchinos defence bastions, by La Caleta, guarded by San Sebastián and Santa Catalina Castles. Head towards the boulevard Alameda Apodaca to see the La Candelaria Bastion and the San Carlos Walls.
