Enjoyed our trip. The views are amazing even before you see the whale(s). We saw one humpback and it took half the trip to find that, as the previous day's sailings were cancelled so they were harder to track down. Yes it's bumpy and yes some people will be sick. Our main guide was very helpful, giving further info and advice on road conditions and how to travel safely. Captain was a little rude, pushing past me on his way up to his post but I wasn't going to get on his wrong side! Overall a good company, nice boats and yes I do much prefer the natural boats to the ribs. Cold enough on this type of boat (there's no indoors!) never mind about whizzing around on a rib! Wrap up warm and take the overalls they give you. You'll need them. Great to see these creatures in their natural habitat and with a responsible, environmentally-aware company.
We went on this trip for my 40th birthday with my mum too. The host was excellent, very friendly and with useful information. The boat was a bit too crowded but we still had a great time. Amazing to see three humpback whales and so special to have this intimate encounter with these gentle giants. Hot chocolate and cinnamon bun was excellent and much needed! Take snacks and water with you, dress warm and take travel sickness tablets beforehand if you need them.
The staff was friendly, the boat was clean, the trip wasn't too long or too short. We saw a humpback whale come up for air several times, and it decided to come up right next to our boat at one point. We also saw white-beaked dolphins and I saw a jelly fish. The hot chocolate and cinnamon rolls were a nice touch.
We had unbelievable weather and were very lucky to see a wale next to our boat up to 5 times. The two guides were biologist and gave us plenty of details about the Wales and the captain was also really accompanying the great mood on board! Totally amazing!
We enjoyed the trip very much, crew was really nice and explained what to look for to spot the whales. We didn't see a jump but hey... that's the great thing to see an animal in the wild: no tricks learned.
