I'm not one who usually does overpriced tours but after reading many reviews I decided that this was the type of trip that warranted a guide, transport and local knowledge. I wasn't disappointed. Hugo was very informed, had an excellent command of English and seemed genuinely delighted to be hosting our tour. Coach pickup was precise, and we arrived at Pompeii 9:01. Our journey through the vast site was informative and enjoyable. Hugo was able to truly portray the events of the time and the pre and post history that accompanied the event. We were fortunate with the weather and light crowds due to Covid but nonetheless, Hugo was able to convey and show us a true sense of history on the tour. Vesuvius was likewise a wonderful experience. No opportunity for Hugo to accompany us but drop off and pick up was on spot and we arrived back in Sorrento fully appreciative if the whole day event. Would highly recommend the tour. Money well spent.

Excellent tour. This is a great way to visit Pompeii and also visit the crater at Vesuvius to give a complete experience. Due to its vastness I can’t imagine visiting Pompeii without a guide, unless you’re an archaeologist or Roman history buff. I can’t speak highly enough of our guide Giulia, as well as having an in depth knowledge of Pompeii and providing an enjoyable, informative tour, she also imparted some knowledge of the area during the bus journey. The climb of Vesuvius is a worthwhile experience, with amazing views, as well as the sight of the crater itself. There are also shops along the way where you can grab water, juice or alcoholic refreshment, which is welcome as you walk in the heat.

Pick up was spot on time and the guide was very knowledgeable. Weather stayed fine despite threats of thunderstorm. Pompeii is a huge area so a guide is really essential. The Pompeii tour was 2 hours long which was a little tiring but there was a 1 hour break for lunch before rejoining the coach to go to Mount Vesuvius. The coach cannot go to the summit so there is a hike up a steep zig-zag path to the top. I could not manage that but my younger companion said the view from the top and into the crater was worth the effort.

We booked two days before the trip and got on no problem. The process was easy and I think reasonably priced too. We found the day to be well structured, there was an itinerary but at no point did we feel we were being rushed. Julia our guide was so informative and really easy to chat to which really added to the day. Our group had a coach for the day which was really comfortable and air conditioning throughout which was invaluable as it was getting quite hot outside. I would recommend this trip for sure.

We had a great time visiting Pompeii and Vesuvius. Our guide Vito was very knowledgeable about the sites and made the most of our time. Pompeii is much bigger than I thought and I'm very glad we chose to go with a guide who knew the sites we would want to see. It was a good mix of guided and free time, we never felt rushed. 10/10 would definitely book again.
