I bought the pass thinking it was a good idea, and boy, it certainly was that. Being able to skip the HUGE queue at the Rijksmuseum made it all worth while on its own, but with the other museums and the transport too, it was good. Everyone spoke really good English, but the staff that explained it were really helpful too. The book you get with it took a little time to understand, but once I did, it proved much easier to understand than the other one I took - the Lonely Planet guide (althought that had other useful things in it as well). The only problem with the HollandPass book was that the attraction pages didn't say which sector the attraction was in, only the address. This meant you had to cross reference to another source to group the activities into a feasible day out. But a really good purchase - and it lasts not just for the one trip, so if we get a chance, we are going to go back and carry on with other parts of Holland.
Having just got back from Amsterdam, having this card was great. No queuing, information readily available on every street. Great that tickets last a whole year as was not able to use them all before my return to UK. Had two tickets left but really got value for money on tickets that I did use. Green ticket was difficult as not many places accepted them, but did not really matter as had used the most popular tickets. Would recommend that anyone travelling to Amsterdam bought these before leaving as it saves so much time.
Overall, a very useful pass. The only drawback was the time it took to wait in the queue at Skiphol Airport at the Travel desk (20 mins)as we had a taxi waiting for us over the road at the Hilton Hotel, so this made me very tense. The pass was useful for the first 24hrs on the tram and, as we had a pass for 2 venues, we used it for the Rjiksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum. We also got 10% off the entry into the Oudekerke, oldest church in Amsterdam. The best thing was we could go in the fast queues at the Art Galleries.
You go through the museum and can touch and smell ingredients. Then you enter a cocktail room with computerised menus on the wall where you print your recipe, and then you get your cocktail! Excellent cocktails! Nice place to visit!
It was a nice experience and it wasn't too crowded like many other places in summer. What I enjoyed the most was testing all the smells. Staff are friendly and some cool stuff at the gift shop.
