What people are saying about Holyrood Palace

Classic Scottish Castle loaded with History

Holyrood House is the Queen’s official Palace in the Scottish capital. If visiting Edinburgh you should see the castle first, but this should be second on your list. The tour is logical and well organized. The audio guide is essential to get the most of the tour. The one criticism I have is that there is a plethora of interesting portraits and the audio guide could be much improved by offering more supplemental material about these portraits. If you have time (and the weather permits walk in the grounds too to see the Abbey ruins and take in the beauty of the park-like setting in the shadow of Arthur’s Seat the long extinct volcano.

Excellent tour with interesting information.

The tour was very straightforward to follow and the audio guide really interesting. My daughter and I enjoyed it. We also enjoyed the abbey and strolling round the beautiful gardens with the stunning backdrop of Salisbury Crags. We did not have to queue whe we arrived as we had already printed our tickets at home. We also had a very nice lunch in the cafe which was reasonably priced. All in all a good visit.

Fascinating history, excellent audio guide

Surprisingly Holyrood House was much less crowded than Edinburgh Castle - and in my view more interesting. The audio guide was included in the price and we found it very helpful. We'd booked for a different day, but staff made no fuss about changing our ticket for the day we came instead. Highly recommended.

Great old palace and gardens at the end of the Royal Mile.

The Holyrrodhouse palace and remains of the Abbey offer an easy display of the life of the Stuarts that can be seen at leisure. A stroll through the gardens is a must. Its location in the heart of Edinburgh and in front of the Scottish Parliament makes it easy to visit.

Awesome outing, Abbey & garden was the best

Great tour, palace very interesting, Abbey & the garden section was amazing, shame left to ruin, headphones explain everything, nice staff, rooms are musty & old, maybe if they ventilate every now & again, I have enhanced smell/borderline asthma
