The office didn't contact us as to the timing of the pickup till 2pm the previous day so we ended up calling them. Any email communication with Getyour guide takes a lifetime so bear this in mind. But that was the only problem. Our guide was Tony - SUPERB! The group together with us was 5 people so that was practically a private tour. We went to the Forbidden City, Tienammen, short stop at the jade factory (no pushing to buy), the Mutianyu part of the Wall (1 hour+ walk on it), looked at the Olympic stadium and the swimming complex, The Bell Tower and the Drum tower (the latter two from the outside). Tony was very informative and helpful throughout - especially as one of the people on the tour lost her bag with her passport and $ in the Forbidden City and he called the police which recovered it with everything in the bag intact. Great job! Lunch was excellent, too (about 5 various dishes). We travelled in a minivan like a local Chrysler Town and Country with a/c. Highly recommended!
Everything went well, the guide was good, lunch was good, the Great Wall was spectacular but we get to spend 1 hour only. Our group of 11 booked for Badaling but we were brought to Mutianyu. We didnt complain though but it's not a good thing. The worst part is the obligatory stop of this herbal medicine shop. The guide excites every one with a foot massage after the Great Wall climb. After a hot foot bath, these herbal doctors will tell you your health problems basing from your pulse, and hard sell you their products which could cost you over $1000. If you do not know how to politely decline, you might be convinced to buy. But be vigilant, do not be deceived. Tell them you need to consult your doctor first or you have to research about the product before you purchase anything.
great day trip, good tour of the forbidden city, a jade factory, tea factory/chinese medicine place and the wall. However, the queue to get up to the wall in the cable car (also, cable car wasn't optional, we all had to pay for it) was at least 50 minutes plus 50 minutes down, we were given two hours so obviously we were late getting back to the bus and still only had max 30 mins on the wall. Tour guide was excellent though. Also, we weren't told the pick up time and location until 7.30pm the night before - perhaps give warning to your customers of when they will receive the message as we were a little worried that we had not heard anything.
Our tickets were confirmed but we were later told that they were sold out, which was confusing, so they moved us to the afternoon and again *confirmed*. Then they said it was sold out again, moved us to the next morning, confirmed. At this point we were not sure if we were getting in at all but we did, all you have to bring is your passport, they have it in their system. The forbidden city itself was magnificent, I strongly suggest that you bring an umbrella for the sun. Rated good for the booking weirdness.
If we had installed wechat on your smartphones we could have easly booked tickes once we arrived at the forbidden city or just via cash. But to save time and since we were not able to forcast how many people would be around that specific day it was good to have the tickets booked beforehand to be on the save side not spending much time at the entrance but just showing our passports... Perfect deal!
