What people are saying about Hafnarfjörður
We had a group of 5 for the horseback riding and while we really enjoyed our tour, we didn’t enjoy how many people were on it. We had to ride in a straight line at a slow pace then broke off into two groups and in the “medium” group still weren’t really able to do much but a straight line at a slow pace. Perfect for a beginner rider with no interest in trying to go any faster. We would definitely still recommend this tour as the horses were beautiful and listened very well and the views were wonderful.
Myself my daughter and her friend thoroughly enjoyed our hack through lava fields above Reykjavík. Those horses are sturdy, sure footed and totally dependable for their riders. Ishetar have very knowledgeable guides who explained in detail the history of the Icelandic Horse from when they were brought there by the exploring Vikings. Well done to all the guides and thank you for an unforgettable experience.
My meeting point was a gas station at a loud street, I had to wait for 45 min., this could have been handled in another way. 2 min. after the ride started a women fell from the horse and had to be taken to hospital, the group, which was much too big at this moment, had to wait a long time, many people sat on a horse for the first time of their life, nobody really cared for them.
This was probably our favorite activity in Iceland! They broke the riders up into three groups - experienced, intermediate, and beginners. In the intermediate group, we trotted a handful of times and kept a bit quicker pace. My only complaint was that even though the site reads that the tour is three hours, we only spent about an hour on the horses.
The tour was very professional and exciting for me, we were all experienced riders and that made the difference comparing to other tours I experienced in the past in many other locations. I highly recommend it. It is great for all riding levels, since the riders were split into 3 separate groups depending on the experience they had.
