Great Wall of China Recommendations
What people are saying about Great Wall of China
I took the 12 noon tour. We left a few minutes after 12 to wait for the other members of the group. The instructions on how to take the subway to the meeting point (Please take “Subway line 2” and get off at station “Dong Si Shi Tiao”（东四 十条). Following the signs for exit C, you will find yourself outside the Beijing Swissotel Hotel where the bus parking spot is just 50 meters to the east) were quite clear except the phrase "the bus parking spot is just 50 meters to the east." It would have been clearer to say "turn right and walk towards Chaoyangmen N St. The bus should be 50 meters to your right." The guide Mr Qiang spoke clearly and loudly in understandable English. He explained in details what to expect and provided those who did not book entrance and cable car tickets the opportunity to buy them through him. The bus was clean and nice. We had more than enough time to hike from Tower 14 to 20. I love the mountains behind the wall! The cable car line down was pretty long.
At first I was a little sceptical if everything will work out. When I arrived at the meeting point, I showed my online ticket to one of the personal (you will see them, they have red vests) and he showed me the bus I needed to enter. My name was on the list, everything worked out perfectly! Tony, our guide, was speaking English very well and organised the trip perfectly! We went straight to the wall (no shopping or other bullshit) and told us there which options we have as he knows the area. After 4 hours of doing whatever we wanted (which is perfectly enough time) we met again and went back 2 Bejing. Totally recommend it, especially if you have only little time and don't want to pay millions for services that you don't need :)
The Mutianyu part of the wall is really a good part to visit especially in the afternoon! There are not many people there and our tour guide Tony was really helpful and gave us tips what to see at the wall. He also made sure that we knew our options of going up or down and we could buy the tickets directly via him. And on this tour you don't visit some shops which force you to buy stuff. I would give this tour even more than 5 stars if possible :)
My friends and I had a great experience. The tour bus was easy to find, clean and efficient. Our tour guide, Fred, was so thorough and helpful. He made sure that everyone understood their options at the Wall and handled tickets so smoothly. He went between Chinese/English to accommodate everyone on the bus. The 4ish hours at the Wall was the perfect amount of time.
Absolutely to be recommended. Perfect timing and guide. This part of the wall was not crowded at all. At some parts you were alone! We never expected this in the beginning. Leo was a big help also after the tour finished, as he assisted us “after work” at the subway not to get lost :-) Thx for this nice day!
