What people are saying about Great Barrier Reef - Cairns

We had a lovely day - great amenities, good food, riff locations okay.

Overall, we had a really good day! I'll keep it short and just mention what we liked the best and what the least. The best: The friendly staff equipped us with everything we needed, such as wetsuits, snorkeling equipment, floaties, and they offered guided snorkeling tours for swimmers who were insecure (they could hang on to a life preserver) which was amazing for my parents!!! The worst: We chose this tour because they advertised that they would pick from 24 locations depending on riff conditions... well, the second riff they stopped at was a big wall which you couldn't approach because the tide would suck you onto the wall's top which was too shallow that day... that's the opposite of good conditions, I'd say. Now, we still had a great time, which is why I happily give 5 stars, but I just didn't care for the exaggerated advertisement. To end with something positive, though, the food was delicious and the beer prices super fair and the main reef guide very funny and knowledgable.

Sailing back to Cairns under full sail was the highlight of the trip.

Fantastic friendly crew took us out on the boat to near Green Island. For me the snorkelling was disappointing, the reef is in trouble and there were not as many fish around as I remembered. The crew explained the impact of the weather on the reef but without being political, simply explaining recent weather patterns effects. This was not helped by the fact I detest the cold and the water was not as worm as I was expecting, but that was my issue. The journey out and the service provided were excellent. The boat was small and not overcrowded. We had perfect weather to enjoy the journey both ways. Green Island was undergoing renovation so not overly welcoming, but walking through the national park was refreshing and enjoyable. Lunch was excellent. Plenty of food for the people on board. Cold meats and salad, with plenty of prawns and smoked salmon, a range of other meats and a full range of salads. Overall an excellent experience, that makes me concerned for the future of the reef.

Fabio was an excellent instructor & helped everyone a lot

Fabio is the lead rescue diver on the ship. I am very lucky and happy he was because I needed him my day out to see. You see, when I was 15 years old I drowned in a lake. I was determined to overcome my fear of the water. I put on my life jacket, got into the Pacific Ocean and just as quickly started crying and turned around for the ship. At that point, Fabio was summoned to assist me. He calmed me down, suited up, and somehow got me back into the water. He used a ring which I held onto and he securely held the outsides of my arms. Slowly, he convinced me to look into the water... it was quite beautiful under the water. We stayed in the water for a little while. After lunch he convinced me easily to go back into the water. We made it 100 meters from the ship. I saw the reef and fish. Everything was wonderful. I never could have done it without help from Fabio... by far the best rescue diver who luckily didn’t have to dive to rescue me. Respectfully Kim I Carney NJ-USA

Great opportunity to snorkel/dive at the Great Barrier Reef

My daughter and I had a great day on Passions 3 catamaran, sailing to one of the outer reefs, skippered by Craig and with an amazing, friendly, caring crew - Kirsty, Jesse and Jaryd, to name just 3. This was a very professional outfit - I felt in safe hands at all times. There were 2 opportunities to snorkel/scuba dive on the reef. My daughter spotted 2 Reef sharks and cuttlefish. Others saw a green turtle. There were many different species of fish and lots to see. There were snorkel guides available for those who wanted more information about the fish they were seeing. On the journey home there was a seasion with a marine biologist. This is a great tour - highly recommended!

Best Great Barrier Reef experience! Do this!

We researched several tours for the Great Barrier Reef and were so glad we found this one. There were only 11 of us on the tour and 3 crew members. We all got to know each other and had a really personalized experience. Cassie, Chris and Pasqual (the crew) were awesome. Always checking with us to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. The snorkeling was the best. Our ‘stinger suits’ gave us peace of mind, although they probably weren’t needed. The food was really good too. Ale sure you book with this tour for the time of your life.
