We went on the 0800 slot- the only available one, which was very chilly on a winter's morning. Though it was chilly, the guide was enthusiastic and kept us on the move. The earphones were a bit uncomfortable and at times crackly but the guide was very informative and interesting. She gave us ample time and opportunities for comfort and tea breaks. I recommend this time slot for the warmer season as apart from the cold, the mist can obscure otherwise fantastic photo scenes. It is worth noting that the tours get booked up VERY EARLY on the official website (most inexpensive), so one needs to book well in advanced. When we booked in early Feb (off peak) the earliest day available was 1st of May!!
I would definitely recommend a guided tour of La Alhambra. It was very hot on the day of our tour, however there was not an excessive amount of information or anything too tasking to cope with. Fairly long at 2 ½ hours however enjoyable all the same. Just buying a ticket or listening to an audio tour would potentially miss out on some really interesting facts and the general history of Alhambra, Granada and the surrounding area as Juan was able to respond to questions etc.
The Alhambra was breathtaking. Our guide (Natasha) was excellent. She provided a very informative and good humoured tour, answering all questions. At several intervals she invited the group to answer questions of her own about the possible use or identify of several objects and artefacts. We were given adequate time to take photographs at various points during the tour. A memorable experience enhanced by first class tour guide.
I enjoyed this tour of the Alhambra including Generalife, very nice ... but I wish I would have known that it did not include El Palacio de Nazaries, the crown jewel of the Alhambra! I had to buy a whole other entrance ticket to see the palace-- I was lucky that it's winter time, they had same-day tickets, so I got to see it ... but I spent more than I otherwise would have.
Excellent trip. Although extra free time in Grenada (30 minutes more) would be better as otherwise you can’t see both Albaicin, and the center of Grenada (Cathedral and market). Also, Charles Quint visit was promised in the description but we never got the chance to do it !!!
