Well laid out art and full of some art world treasures

As a solo traveler and non-Spanish speaker, I liked how art descriptions were detailed in both English and Spanish and they had a few notable artworks that you wouldn’t expect like a Rothko, Toulouse le trec, Georgia o keef , and monetize to name a few. Be sure and check to see if you want to see is not on exposition somewhere else. A good 3 hours is all you need to see everything and go down to the basement to see their latest exposition. You will not be disappointed. Lastly, you can take pictures and you can drink and take water but not around the artwork.

Comprehensive permanent collection worth seeing, the temp exhibit not.

I very much enjoyed the way the superb permanent collection is arranged. I plan to visit again. I was not keen on the temporary exhibition 'The Illusion of the American Frontier'. I considered it surprisingly weak in depth, in breadth and rather expensive to boot. I noticed that the volume published to go with the exhibit was meaty [though available in Spanish only]. The book is possibly interesting however I believe the exhibit itself should take precedence. I am disappointed.

Guide was great, but Prado is uncomfortably crowded.

Our guide was fabulous with fantastic English. Unfortunately, the museum is so packed we couldn’t even see some paintings. Unless you’re a real connoisseur, I would almost Side with the people who say skip the Prado and go to the Sofia de Reina and other sites in Madrid.

Amazing museum the paintings are realy extraordinary

The museum is not so big but if you are in Madrid you don't have to miss to visit; the collection of paintings is amazing and you must really see it. After you finish the visit you can take a snack at the terasa Thyssen-Bornemisza
