What people are saying about Geneva
Each individual experience was very good, the tour guide Maria was excellent and shared a lot of interesting information with us at every point without overdoing it. I do not think that the Panoramic Train ride was worth it, as it is covered by trees and you have already captured the scenery in most of the coach ride and it just takes a lot of time and effort to go out of your way to do it. I also think that perhaps just two out of 3 activities in one day would really provide the opportunity to truly enjoy the experiences for what they were, not enough time was actually spent in the quaint and picturesque town of Gruyere where it would have been wonderful to have lunch and then wonder around to some of the shops, however it felt as if we were dropped off and by the time we walked up to the castle door we had to return or we would miss our bus ride.
What a great way to spend 3 hours in Geneva! A well-thought out mixture of walking, boating and sitting; of learning about the history of Geneva and the history of chocolate; of the new town and the Old Town; of watching the world go by, and most importantly of the taste and aromas of chocolate in many forms. A successfully scripted tour that, even on a grey, cold and windy (and sometimes rainy) day, met expectations - building from a highly anticipated height at the start (learning about how to appreciate chocolate) to a suitable contemporary crescendo (tasting the most recent addition to the chocolate family). Highly recommended. Thank you, Mei. You did a fabulous job as our guide. All the best for the future and I’m sure many others will reap the benefits of your knowledge and nature.
The tour was absolutely fantastic. The bus ride was smooth, and our tour guide, Maggie, was direct and to the point with very clear directions. Our first stop to the chocolate factory was much more than we expected... My wife and I were stuffed from all the samples... the next stop to the Gruyère factory was very intriguing, and packed full of information. The restaurant they took us to for a fondue/food tasting was intimate. The medieval town of Gruyères is a definite must-see. You feel like you’re still in the 1500s. Overall, this has been one of the best experiences we’ve had.
I enjoyed the tour overall, but would have preferred knowing that the itinerary had been altered in advance. Maintenance was taking place on the train line and so no train ride and no fondue demonstration at the chalet. I only found this information out by over hearing another customer complaining to the tour guide. I completely understand that the train could not operate, but the company would have had reasonably advanced knowledge of this.
We started the tour with an amazing chocolate fondue, enjoyed learning a lot from Mey about the history of chocolate and Geneva , and visited some cool chocolaterie. Tasting lots of chocolate on the way made it extra fun! Mey is a really good guide, very knowledgeable, sweet!! She was happey to give us recommendations for the rest of our stay in the city. Don’t miss it!
