What people are saying about Gammel Strand
That trip was the most memorable and exciting event I had during the 3-day trip to Copenhagen, I definitely say. We enjoyed listening to our such a handsome and knowledgeable tour guide and sailed safely and enjoyable thanks to our experienced captain. We admired the scenes jubilantly and joyfully with comprehensive and thorough captions from our amiable guide. Sometimes we felt mesmerized with the surrounding landmarks in a super slow motion of the boat, but sometimes we enjoyed harbour winds and water splashes in high speed. All were managed cleverly by our captain. So, if you still wonder what should try in Copenhagen, a 1-hour canal tour is my first recommendation.
No need to book ahead for a weekday in May, and “skipping the line” at Tivoli just means you go to the prepaid line for your ticket, unnecessary in May, and you still have to go to one of the two entrances staffed by humans, which may involve a long trek around the exterior of the Gardens (which are spectacular in tulip season, and tranquil on a weekday). The canal cruise was very nice, with comfortable seating inside and out, lots of great architecture and interesting boats to see. Bring anything you’ll want to drink (or eat) on board. Affable crew, but they gave up quickly when so many headsets didn’t work. Don’t forget your camera.
This was a great way to get an overview of the city. Easy to find, no problems with vouchers. The guide was lovely and funny, she spoke well and knew a lot about the city. We were surprised to find out that the vouchers could be used at anytime during the day, because we really rushed to make it at 10 am. My recommendation is to take a seat on the side further from the dock when you get on. There are sights on either side, but I feel like we missed some cool ones because we were on the other side.
The cruise boat tour guide was very detailed in her description of all of the important buildings around the canal. The cruise boat driver steered the boat very cautiously and in a way that made me enjoy the experience. Sitting with around 30 people and made the experience shared. I was able to take numerous photographs and I have a good memory of the hour spent.
I think this is a must-do activity if you are visiting Copenhagen. This tour shows you most of the tourist spots, and the audio guide was very informative. I was very satisfied and thought I got more from the tour than I paid for. Take this tour first, and then choose the spots you want to see most. I would recommend this to my friends.
