Full description
Visit the Diocesan Museum and Archaeological Museum of Ascoli Satriano, in the north of the Puglia region. Admire the collection of sacred artworks in the Diocese of Cerignola, Ascoli Satriano Museum. Discover the exhibition Lo Spreco Necessario: Luxury in the Tombs of Ascoli Satriano, eerily displaying the most luxurious haunted funeral kits found in the territory of Ascoli.

Move on to the exhibition Polymeries of the Sublime to see the splendid polychrome griffins, uncovered and sold secretly in 1976 to a famous art dealer, Giacomo Medici, subsequently sold for $7.7 million to the J. Paul Getty Museum in Malibu. After long negotiations conducted by the Department of Cultural Heritage and Activities, 22 years after the purchase in 1985, the finds were returned to Italy by the Getty Museum on August 1, 2007.
