Full description
On this visit to Florence’s historic center, get to know the city’s origins and more than 2,000 years of Florentine history. You’ll be fascinated by what you see and hear as you walk through the city of Dante, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and other important figures.

At the Piazza della Repubblica your guide will tell you about the city’s Roman origins before you head toward the religious center, where you’ll see the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the Baptistery of St. John, and Giotto’s Campanile.

You’ll walk past an ancient oratory that’s situated adjacent to the house of Dante Alighieri, and then walk through some of the less crowded streets of Florence towards the Ponte Vecchio.

Finally, you’ll enter the Piazza Signoria through the Uffizi courtyard. In this main piazza and civic center, you’ll come upon the impressive Palazzo Vecchio and see close-up the famous statues of the Loggia dei Lanzi.

We were lucky enough to have a private tour with Ilaria who was truly wonderful! The intimate experience was absolutely fantastic as we were free to ask as many questions as we wanted and explore in a more personalized manner. Ilaria was full of knowledge and told the stories of the city with great passion. The 1.5 hours flew by and we felt like we could have continued for another tour.

My husband and I were the only booked English tour pax. We had Martha, our guide, all to ourselves. She was very informative, speaks really well in English that we can understand easily. Even my husband who doesn't really care much for the “history” was captivated by Martha. The meeting place was easy to find once we have navigated where to go from Firenze SM novella station. Don't take the bus or taxi, just walk, it only takes 10mins max

Great way to get a feel for Florence

This walking tour was a great introduction to Florence and its history. Our guide was very knowledgeable and willing to answer all questions. It was very hot but our guide kept us in the shade as far as possible. I recommend a guided walking tour as one of the first activities in Florence.
