Discover one of Morocco’s four imperial cities and the remains of the former capital of the kingdom of Mauretania on a full-day tour from Fez.

Following a pick-up from your hotel in Fez, transfer by air-conditioned vehicle to the Roman ruins of Volubilis. Explore the remains of the 2,000-year-old complex.

Continue to Moulay Idriss to discover one of Morocco's holiest cities. Take a tour of the narrow streets of the compact town where Moulay Idriss I introduced the religion of Islam in 789 AD. Then, transfer to the city of Meknes, founded in the 11th century by the Almoravids as a military settlement.

Go into the Medina and see some of the monumental city gates and ornamental decorations of the Spanish-Moorish architecture. Tour the city walls, and stop at the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, founder of the Alaouite dynasty and sultan when Meknes was the capital city. Visit the Museum of Moroccan Art to see a wide variety of handicrafts, before the afternoon transfer back to Fez.

Fantastic day trip. Very easy to arrange this trip. The guide and driver showed up promptly at our Riad and provided excellent service in a nice air conditioned van. Our visits to Volubilis, Mecknes, and Moulay Idress were very informative. The guides provided at Volubilis and Mecknes were excellent. After visiting the Medina at Fes the day before, the Medina at Mecknes was not as inspiring and would suggest trying to spend more of the time at Volubilis. Overall, would highly recommend this tour.

Had a fantastic day out doing this tour to Volubilis and Meknes, definitely recommend it... had no idea Morocco home to 2000 year old Roman ruins, was truly very informative and enjoyable. Unfortunately, did this tour on a Friday so afternoon in Meknes was a bit restricted, but still very worthwile. Just seeing the beautiful and monumental Bab Mansour is enough! We had a fanatstic driver, Mustafa, who was as knowledgeable as he was enthusiastic! We loved it - thank you!

The driver very nice, helpful and nice. The guide to Volubilis excellent! The guide to bad Meknes. It has failed to make us appreciate and communicate the spirit of the city. He wanted to force us to eat where he wanted, in the shops where I wanted him when we asked him several times to show us the most particular aspects that we also showed him on the guide we had consulted before arriving in Meknes. He also did not express himself in Italian sufficiently and pretended not to understand our requests
