What people are saying about Faubourg Marigny
We had a very intimate tour (there were only 2 of us!) with an excellent guide (Jack) who stopped at designated points to describe some of the interesting aspects of the area and emphasized the history. It was easy biking and wonderful scenery. Highly recommended!
Noce informative guide showed us the many parts which make up New Orleans besdies the French Quarter. Appreciated thee 2 stops : one to see a cemetery ans learn about their burial customs, the other at City Park with a chamce to buy beignets at Cafe du Monde and an opportunity to stroll around the Sculture Garden with lots of amazing modern art in a wonderful outdoor setting. Gave me an idea of where I wanted to exlore later as we went throigh the Garden and Warehoise District and sa aw the St Charles Streetcar. Good way to start my trip to New Orleans
The driver was full of humor. I will have to do some of my own research now to be sure that what he told me was factual.
The Guide is a musician and could offer us an insight into the past of Nola which I wouldnt learn without his extensive explanations. Stories about Creoles, European influences, history, the evolution of Jazz, architecture: The tour was worthwhile. We also got infos about what to do in the city both restaurants and bars. Especially the recommended Italian in the Frenchmanstreet was an absolute bulls eye. The bars were also on Point! But please dont recommend the Po-Boys anymore ;-) Recommend it!
There was no courtesy or civility from those that work there. For ticket taking, they simply took the ticket. NO welcome aboard I am here to assist you, just "give me the ticket". Again there is no "put whatever items in your hand down remove your shades if you would like to, to take a picture", just quick snap a picture. NO please pose for the picture, just a snap of the picture. The male taking a picture of me, has the nerve to get an ATTITUDE, after he has snapped a picture of me with a water in my hand a purse in the other hand and shades on, my eyes. After I ask him what just took place, it went so quick I had no idea. He said I took a picture for you. I said "no, not with these items in my hands and shades on, could you please take another picture I can be willing to pay for, he took the picture with an attitude. The so called musicians playing jazz, NO WHERE near PROFESSIONAL music being played. Quite a bit of conversation NOT MUSIC went on, on the mic, the music played poor
