Full description
Discover Évora, which in the 16th century was, together with Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. Several kings used to live here with their court and officers. For that reason, the city has a lot of important buildings and artworks. It was also one of the most important Iberian cities since ancient times. Visit the Roman Diana Temple, which is one of the greatest and best preserved roman temples on the Iberian Peninsula. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage by in 1986.

The Cathedral is, in parallel with the Roman Temple, one of the most emblematic monuments of the city. It is the largest medieval cathedral in Portugal and has no parallel in the rest of the country. It was built in the 13th and 14th centuries under the royal patronage of D. Afonso III and Bishop Durando Pais. Its architecture is Romanesque and Gothic and retains the ogival portico decorated with sculptures of the Apostolate and the cloister.

The Chapel of Bones, located in the Church of St. Francis, was built in the 17th century by three Franciscan monks who intended to convey the message of the transience of life. The chapel is a fascinating chapel with a very particular atmosphere. Continue your tour and explore Vila Viçosa, a little village with an incredible palace, which was built by the most powerful Portuguese aristocratic family, the royal family of The Dukes of Bragança. Here, taste the wonderful Alentejo flavors.
