A value for money taster of the vast Everglades

We were picked up right on time (10am) from the Holiday Inn which was close to the college Bayside Metromover stop and easy to find. It's about a 45 minute coach ride (airconditioned, not too cold) drive to the Everglades centre. We had 10 minutes for a quick look at the souvineers and boarded one of the boats for the 1 hour tour of the Everglades waterways. We saw 2 alligators - they swam close to the boat - and lots of great birdlife. The guide was fun and informative. After the tour we had about a 10 minute wait then saw the alligator show - about 15 minutes of a brave young alligator rescuer showing her wrestling skills and talking about her work to remove 'problem' alligators from public areas and homes. Then it was back on the bus and home. The $40 fee included 2 large glossy photos per group - one by the river before the boat trip and one after the alligator show holding a baby 'gator. As I was travelling alone, this was especially good value for money!

Everglades National Park: 3.5-Hour Adventure Tour Reviewed by

Five people in my group and everybody enjoyed the experience.

We had a 3.5 hour boat/walk tour starting in Chokoloskee. The boat took us among the myriad islands on Gulf coast and stopped on one to examine the local shellfish and traces of original indian inhabitants. The captain was knowledgeable in local flora and fauna and even found us a spot to watch dolphins swim around the boat. A few islands had large colonies of white pelicans. The area visited is one of few remaining US areas which is totally wild and only visited by fishermen, kayakers and a few tourists in guide boats. The water is relatively shallow allowing only smaller boats with outboard motors or airboats to navigate. Chokoloskee is literally at the end of the road and has a small population and limited facilities but a clients that loves the remoteness. Its an hours drive from Naples so it is relatively easy to get to. If you want to experience the Gulf islands this is the way to do it.

Great boat ride but sorry for the alligators at the show

The air boat ride was amazing, also the guy who drove and explained, but the show afterward ruined some of it because the speaker wasn‘t very nice to the alligators. He said they don‘t mind, but they‘re animals, of course they mind. He pulled them around by their tails and shoved them around and stepped on them. He was trying to make a show, but we didn‘t like it. Also you can take a picture with a baby alligator, but l didn‘t feel the love between the baby gator and the staff member.

Facility very nice, guides knowledgeable and had good humor!

A worthwhile stop while touring southern Florida. The boat ride was fun and productive in seeing wildlife and learning about the animals habits. The “gator” show was very entertaining and informative. I think everyone will remember what was said due to the fun way it was presented. Job well done to all!

A bird and alligator filled airboat ride.

We were able to view dozens of birds and alligators from our airboat. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and made for a wonderful experience. We also enjoyed the show after our boat ride and got to hold a baby alligator.
