What people are saying about El Calafate

The drive was short and the hike was good enough for the day

The tour was excellent! The tour guide, Ana, was awesome! The drive was comfortable and short. The hike was long enough and challenging enough for an average hiker. The lagoon at the end of the hike and the views of Chalten were just breathtaking... we has plenty of time to do everything and even drink a beer on the way back to the bus... the price is a little high though but no park fees so it is ok ...

Awesome and for a price that should not be more expensive

Inbetween some very expensive tours this one stood out for us. Booked this one as we didn’t want to pay 200 euro p.p. Result; Great 4x4 bus, great guide and during the day we saw all the major highlights of the park. Awesome experience!

A great way to get a feel for Patagonia in just a few hours

We had gone to the Perito Moreno glacier the previous day and wanted to see the other side of Patagonia's beautiful barren landscape. This small group tour (6 of us plus our guide in a Land Rover) gave us exactly what we were looking for. The entire safari was within the grounds of an enormous ranch (or estancia) just outside El Calafate, but it felt much more remote and certainly gave us a sense of the wilderness. Our guide, Jose, was friendly and knowledgeable, and pointed out all the flora and fauna. There were hundreds of wacacas running wild over the hills, which was an amazing sight. And the tour ended with a delicious lamb stew in freshly made bread and a glass of malbec. A very enjoyable tour and a perfect complement to the glaciers. One word of caution, however. We were blessed with unseasonably good weather, so there was nothing to prevent us getting out, stretching our legs, and getting close to the nature. It may have been a different story if it had been raining.

Perfect introduction to ice trekking/climbing

Bilingual guides. For English only speakers, they organise the groups into "language" groups. Spanish and English. No time wasted in translation. Very informative on the Glacier region and formation. Guides make the trek as safe as possible, offering assistance when required. Only negative point is the distance required to travel overland to get there. But bear in mind, of all Glaciers, this is one of the nearest to El Calafate.
