Full description
Immerse yourself in the world of wine and admire the historical objects on display at the Wine Museum at Schloss Esterházy, a palace in Eisenstadt. Since 1666, the cellar has held 5,000 casks of wine, approximately 280,000 liters. Until the 21st century the wine in the cellar counted among the riches of the Esterházy.

See the incredible objects like the oldest wine press or the oldest and largest wine cask in the region. Learn about the characteristics of wine quality: from a marked improvement in quality in the first half of the 18th century with the wine culture in Lorraine, to the wine scandal at the beginning of the 1980s. Get a glimpse into the varietals, vineyard cultivation, wine production and distillation, as well as Prosecco production.

Learn all about Joseph Haydn's connection to wine, including how he was first Vice Conductor of Fürst Paul II Anton to the Esterházy estate. Tour the cellar and see the former kitchens of the palace, where meals were prepared for illustrious guests. Discover how during the Viennese Congress of 1815, a meal was prepared for 185 people and served in the current Haydnsaal.
