Full description
A warm welcome awaits you in Speyside, home to more than half of Scotland's malt whisky distilleries. You’ll have a chance to sample the whisky and enjoy the magnificent scenery of Cairngorm, Speyside and Royal Deeside.

Day 1: Into the Highlands

Your 3-day Scotch Whisky adventure begins with a drive north from Edinburgh into the Highlands. Stop at the historic village of Dunkeld for a short forest walk to see the waterfalls. Afterwards, be lead to Pitlochry for lunch and to your first distillery visit at Dalwhinnie. This is the highest distillery in Scotland and the closest to the source of the River Spey.

From Dalwhinnie, follow the river north through the Cairngorm National Park to the small town of Grantown on Spey, which is where your accommodation is located. This will be your base for the next 2 nights.

Day 2: Exploring Scotland’s Most Famous Whisky Region

Spend the entire day exploring Scotland’s most famous whisky region. After a scenic drive toward the coast our first stop is the family-owned Benromach Distillery for a personalized tour. From here it is just a short distance to Elgin, the home of Gordon and Macphail – one of the world’s leading specialist whisky bottlers and suppliers.

From Elgin, travel back up the Spey to Craigellachie for a vist to the Speyside Cooperage. Here, see another aspect of the whisky-making process. Have lunch either in Craigellachie or in nearby Aberlour. After lunch here or in nearby Aberlour, visit Glenfiddich Distillery. From here, travel back to Grantown on Spey.

Day 3: Glenlivet & Balmoral Castle

On this final day of the tour, go through the beautiful Cairngorm Mountains as you make your way back to Edinburgh. In the morning, explore Glenlivet, which is not just a distillery but also home to a beautiful glen that features great walks and abundant wildlife.

Later on, pass by the famous Balmoral Castle and stop in the village of Braemar in the heart of the National Park. From here the route takes you south over Scotland’s highest mountain pass and then through Perthshire before your arrival Edinburgh at around 6:30 PM.

Please note that the tour itinerary and distillery visits may vary throughout the season and differ from the description above. There will, however, always be a minimum of 4 distillery visits.

Accommodation is at a range of locally owned, friendly B&Bs and guest houses, all with ensuite facilities, in tranquil Grantown-on-Spey, located in the heart of the Speyside region.
