5 attractions no Dublin day trip would be complete without

We'd recommend doublin' your time in the Irish capital, but if you really do have just a day to spend here, you'll have some great craic (pronounced: crack) working a day tour around these five Dublin faves!

Christ Church Cathedral

Christ Church Cathedral

St. Patrick's is also worth touring, but if your excursion coincides, don't miss medieval Christ Church's choral evensongs on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and weekends.

Phoenix Park

Phoenix Park

Europe's largest walled city park is home to Áras an Uachtaráin–home to the Irish president. You can also enjoy a wander around the People's Gardens and the old Magazine Fort.

Dublin Castle

Dublin Castle

This unusual castle off Dame Street is worth visiting for many reasons, not least because its garden was once home to the Dubh Linn (dark pool) that gave the city its name!

Kilmainham Gaol

Kilmainham Gaol

Kilmainham is the place to visit if you want to learn about Ireland's struggle for independence. Now a museum, many significant revolutionaries were imprisoned and executed here.

Dublin Writers Museum

Dublin Writers Museum

In a city of exemplary museums, you might only have time for a quick one. Why not immerse yourself in its great literary reputation by learning more about Joyce and Yeats, et al?

Planning Your Visit

How to get to the city center from Dublin cruise port?

The cruise port is just over a mile from the city center, and there is an express bus service that should only take about 15 minutes. Visitors can also take the number 53 public bus, pick up a cab at the taxi rank, or even take a hop on hop off bus directly from the terminal for an easy jaunt around the sights and then back again!

How to get around Dublin?

Dublin's public transport system can be pretty tricky for newcomers to grasp. Fortunately, most areas of interest can be reached pretty quickly by foot. If you really plan on cramming a lot in (and can afford it!) then you'll have no problem hailing a cab. Be aware, though: as well as the initial fare, an extra euro will be added on per passenger.

What people are saying about Dublin

Absolutely INCREDIBLE!! A must see and do, I definitely recommend!

Our tour guide Eoin was an absolute pleasure, from the very beginning to the absolute end he was knowledge about absolutely EVERYTHING and hilarious! I learned more about Ireland from him in this daytrip than in all the muesums and places I visited! It was spectacular! I was literally writing down facts as fast as I could while he kept saying more in between great humor, being knowledge about everything you pass from the meet up point to the sites, he was so helpful to get everyone the pictures they were wanting too!

Highly recommended if you only have one day to see it!!

It was a rainy day but the views were still stunning! Our tour guide, Tommy, was phenomenal! He was kind, patient, informative and fun! He made the day more enjoyable! I would do this tour again! We stopped at a look out area on our way back from the Cliffs of Moher and we were mesmerized by it. He also played Irish music on the bus which we all really enjoyed! Just a great experience over all! Highly recommended!

Great tour in the amazing Irish countryside

Tour was well organised and the guide has given us interesting information on Dublin, Ireland and its culture plus lots of recommendation for places to eat, drink and listen to Irish music. The places we have seen are truly amazing and you can really get a glance on how beautiful Ireland is. Although there is a lot of driving I recommend it.

Informative and interesting program with excellent tour guide!

Daniel - our tour guide was fantastic. His illustration, behind stories, local’s know how and suggestions were all amazing. Tour program was on time and he entertained us throughout the day. Highly recommend.

Wonderful, fun-packed day-from Connemara, the Abby to Galway!

Our guide, Gerald, was an exceptional host. He was knowledgeable about many unique and interesting aspects of the trip from Dublin to Connemara. I used to work as a tour guide, and would rate him an A+.
