5 attractions no Dublin day trip would be complete without

We'd recommend doublin' your time in the Irish capital, but if you really do have just a day to spend here, you'll have some great craic (pronounced: crack) working a day tour around these five Dublin faves!

Christ Church Cathedral

Christ Church Cathedral

St. Patrick's is also worth touring, but if your excursion coincides, don't miss medieval Christ Church's choral evensongs on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and weekends.

Phoenix Park

Phoenix Park

Europe's largest walled city park is home to Áras an Uachtaráin–home to the Irish president. You can also enjoy a wander around the People's Gardens and the old Magazine Fort.

Dublin Castle

Dublin Castle

This unusual castle off Dame Street is worth visiting for many reasons, not least because its garden was once home to the Dubh Linn (dark pool) that gave the city its name!

Kilmainham Gaol

Kilmainham Gaol

Kilmainham is the place to visit if you want to learn about Ireland's struggle for independence. Now a museum, many significant revolutionaries were imprisoned and executed here.

Dublin Writers Museum

Dublin Writers Museum

In a city of exemplary museums, you might only have time for a quick one. Why not immerse yourself in its great literary reputation by learning more about Joyce and Yeats, et al?

Planning Your Visit

How to get to the city center from Dublin cruise port?

The cruise port is just over a mile from the city center, and there is an express bus service that should only take about 15 minutes. Visitors can also take the number 53 public bus, pick up a cab at the taxi rank, or even take a hop on hop off bus directly from the terminal for an easy jaunt around the sights and then back again!

How to get around Dublin?

Dublin's public transport system can be pretty tricky for newcomers to grasp. Fortunately, most areas of interest can be reached pretty quickly by foot. If you really plan on cramming a lot in (and can afford it!) then you'll have no problem hailing a cab. Be aware, though: as well as the initial fare, an extra euro will be added on per passenger.

What people are saying about Dublin

Experience was well worth the time and price

My parents and I were in Ireland for two days and figured we had to check out the cliffs, but couldn't find a tour that could accommodate our timing. After plenty of searching, we found this tour that departed at 10 am to see the Cliffs and Doolin, which would take almost all day. It was awesome to travel via charter bus through Ireland and see the landscape and eventually see the Cliffs and the small city of Doolin. Noel was our driver and guide and he did a great job of multitasking and maneuvering around such small streets at times. It's a long (and can be somewhat exhausting) trip but I would definitely recommend it. Easy pick-up and drop-off locations provided too.

Informative and fun way to see Giant's Causeway, Belfast

Did this full day (14 hour) bus tour with our family. Amazing day - everyone - teenagers and parents - loved it. Lots of see and do. Mark was a great guide - funny and informative. it was fast-paced and we appreciated the fact the guides kep the tour on time. Each stop was unique and we had loads of time to explor on our own. We loved seeing the sights of Northern Ireland and learning about the history and people. Excellent value and great way to spend a day.

The journey is long but the guide was able to make it funny.

The journey is long but the guide was able to make it funny. During the travel, he said us what we could see, and when we were arriving to the Cliff of Moher what we would to see. The only defect is that we arrive 1.20 later than we aspected. Considering all this, I raccomand this company

Wonderful day. Richie, our guide was super, helpful, knowledgeable.

Richie went way out of his way to make this a wonderful, fun and educational day. Very sensitive to those of us less able to get around easily. Knew all there was to know and shared it with charm and humour. Excellent driver!

Tour planed according to what was informed

Great tour! Saw many great places of Northern Ireland in just one day. We did enough stops to go to the toilet which is important in a full day bus travel. Also could charge my mobile in the bus. Loved the tour.
