5 attractions no Dublin day trip would be complete without

We'd recommend doublin' your time in the Irish capital, but if you really do have just a day to spend here, you'll have some great craic (pronounced: crack) working a day tour around these five Dublin faves!

Christ Church Cathedral

Christ Church Cathedral

St. Patrick's is also worth touring, but if your excursion coincides, don't miss medieval Christ Church's choral evensongs on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and weekends.

Phoenix Park

Phoenix Park

Europe's largest walled city park is home to Áras an Uachtaráin–home to the Irish president. You can also enjoy a wander around the People's Gardens and the old Magazine Fort.

Dublin Castle

Dublin Castle

This unusual castle off Dame Street is worth visiting for many reasons, not least because its garden was once home to the Dubh Linn (dark pool) that gave the city its name!

Kilmainham Gaol

Kilmainham Gaol

Kilmainham is the place to visit if you want to learn about Ireland's struggle for independence. Now a museum, many significant revolutionaries were imprisoned and executed here.

Dublin Writers Museum

Dublin Writers Museum

In a city of exemplary museums, you might only have time for a quick one. Why not immerse yourself in its great literary reputation by learning more about Joyce and Yeats, et al?

Planning Your Visit

How to get to the city center from Dublin cruise port?

The cruise port is just over a mile from the city center, and there is an express bus service that should only take about 15 minutes. Visitors can also take the number 53 public bus, pick up a cab at the taxi rank, or even take a hop on hop off bus directly from the terminal for an easy jaunt around the sights and then back again!

How to get around Dublin?

Dublin's public transport system can be pretty tricky for newcomers to grasp. Fortunately, most areas of interest can be reached pretty quickly by foot. If you really plan on cramming a lot in (and can afford it!) then you'll have no problem hailing a cab. Be aware, though: as well as the initial fare, an extra euro will be added on per passenger.

What people are saying about Dublin

Successful trip in beautiful nature with plenty of time to explore for

Great organized trip from start to finish! On the way there are many small stops for photos, among others on the film set PS: I love you! Complementarily complemented by information from our driver about the national park, the history of the country and curiosities on the edge! Then in Glendalough the offer of a short tour of the monastery from the 11th century and then time to explore the surrounding countryside including the two adjacent lakes! If you like nature walks and a bit of history, the excursion is more than recommended! Thanks to our guide!

Had a wonderful time. Driver Andre and Guide Arial were wonderful

I thank our fabulous trip to all the knowledge our guide, Arial gave us. Our driver, Andre was friendly and a great driver. I would recommend this tour to anyone who goes to Dublin. Bring comfortable, rain proof shoes and jacket. Drinks and snacks are also advised. The tour is a long day. Mostly I praise Arial and Andre for their hard work. Thank you

Amazing, informative,entertaining, and fun

Our driver Greg, Mathew, Paddy was a lot of fun. I am glad we got the guide at the causeway as well. There is so much to learn about this place, and we had plenty of time to wander on our own as well. We took some great pictures!

Wonderful day trip to the cliffs with entertaining & fun stops for coffee, lunch & Guinness! Darren shared Ireland history of people, sounds & fun. Can't say enough about the great day that my husband & I had.
