The Magnificent Architecture of the Doge's Palace

The Doge's Palace, now a famous museum, was once the seat of power of the Venetian Republic. With its ornate Gothic facade, beautifully frescoed interiors, and gilded ceilings, it's a wonder to behold – here are five of its architectural highlights.

Filippo Calendario, the mastermind sculptor and architect, designed the gorgeous columned arcade in the palace's facade and also sculpted many of its marvellous statues.

The Bridge of Sighs

The Bridge of Sighs

One of Venice's most famous landmarks, this enclosed bridge was a passageway for convicts leading from the interrogation rooms inside the palace to the prisons across the canal.

Golden Staircase

St. Mark’s Basilica and Doge’s Palace Fast Track Tour Reviewed by Marie-Therese, 05/17/2019

Maravillosa visita/ Wonderful visit with Therese

This was the only (paid) tour I chose in Venice during a 5-day stay, and I believe I couldn't choose best. St Mark and Dodge's Palace are two of the most crowded spots in Venice, and we went during the first times in the morning skipping the line guided by Therese, a well-knowledged art historian. We had a good insight to the history background of these attractions and had the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful views from St Mark's terrace. As an art historian myself, I felt that this tour is worthy of every penny spent. Thank you, Therese! I'll recommend you in the future to all my friends.

Great tour, good value, knowledgeable guide, Sabrina!

We loved this tour! A behind the scenes look at Doge’s Palace with a very knowledgable guide, Sabrina. Very worthwhile and an added bonus of being able to go behind the alter at St. Marks was amazing. Perfect amount of time!

Great way to see things in an entertaining efficient way.

These 2 attractions have long lines and cam be overwhelming. Having our English speaking guide made everything much easier and kept us entertained and informed when we did have to wait on the Groups Line for Doges Palace. We learnt things and saw things we would not have seen or known without the guide. Both buildings are glorious in their own way. Guide was very informative but also fun. Recommend this highly on sp many levels.
