The tour was very interesting! A taxi picked us up from our hotel to take us to the bus. The bus was super comfortable! The seats were more like sofas rather than the usual bus seats. We left on time and managed to do the whole tour on time and without any issues. The locations that we visited were absolutely beautiful and we could not stop taking pictures! It was truly a marvelous tour. The only reason why I could not give this tour 5 stars is due to our guide Helen. She treated us as if we were kids and she behaved inappropriately during the trip. We did not ask questions because she will not give you a straight answer - she starts talking and talking without answering questions. We started to avoid her because she gave us a big headache. She did not stop talking (crap) for 8 hours straight. Also, as far as I know this was an English speaking tour, but because there were 2 people (out of 21) who were Italians (who understood English), the guide kept translating the tour in Italian.
I totally enjoyed this trip. It was well organized and the guide was extremely knowledgeable. As with any group tour, it is a challenge to balance the time for individual exploring and the need for the group to move on. I felt I had enough time to explore the towns, but wished I had more time at the large church. If you want to go to the top of it, then don't delay, don't buy admission to anything else, and make sure you are in good shape! Oh, and the lunch was delicious.
The town of Szentendre is a must see for any tourist visiting Hungary. It is mere miles from Budapest but one is transported to a different moment in time courtesy of this visit. Mike (our tour guide) was an exuberant and kind tour guide with a great personality. We appreciated being shown around the town by him. All in all, a lovely way to spend a few hours in Hungary.
Over all, the tripping is educational and the places that we get to see is BEAUTIFUL. The only thing I was not happy about is the food, I think they should provide a short menu of two to three options because the food we had was tasteless from the starter to the main course and the chicken was hard and over cooked. So my only complaint really is the food.
We really enjoyed our half day tour and found Agnes to be a friendly and informative guide who spoke excellent English. It was lovely to see some countryside and the trip back on the river was a real highlight. So glad we did it.
