What people are saying about Da Nang
This place is something else. Like a dream, a fairytale, a movie set, a fantasy land, a French village. Our intention was to see the golden bridge but this day brought so much more to the table, even though we were soaking wet throughout. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly but seemed to want to move round very quickly when we wanted to stop and breathe and admire and take it all in. There is so much to see here and it is so beautiful. Luckily it was a pretty quiet day but still other tourists with cultural differences (we don’t queue, we are I’ll-mannered, we don’t care if we bash you with our brollies or push in front of you...) became an obvious annoyance. The French village is spectacular as is the bridge and the pagoda. My concern that in the summer months, the place will be unbearable with the amount of tourists passing through. I think from here on in you will struggle to get that Instagrammable shot on the bridge because there will just be too many people there.
There had been non-stop rain in DaNang for a few days and the tour company contacted us with very accommodating options. We chose to go ahead with the 6am tour despite the rain. We met our guide from GreenViet (a non-government organisation) Keui who was extremely enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We got to see 6 troupes of red shanked douc langurs which, is obviously, why we went. Keui was an excellent spotter and was interested in my interest in conservation and wildlife. The tour was cut short be landslides and inaccessible areas so we received a small refund which was very gracious and we still got to visit the newly build education centre. What impressed me the most was that our guide refused a tip. She said she was happy to share our enthusiasm and had enjoyed taking us. Another excellent tour in DaNang. Go and support the conservation of these magnificent and beautiful creatures.
We arrived by Cruise Ship and were a wee bit nervous that it would all work out, given we had not chosen an on board organised activity. We had a brilliant time. Guide was super professional and organised us a taxi back to the ship at the end of the wonderful day.
This shuttle is very cheap and such an easy way to get to the airport. They say allow 1 hour to get to the airport as they have other pickups, but I was fortunate enough to have a private shuttle. Great service!
Absolutely loved the snorkeling. You get to see a preserved coral reef and all the many types of fish that come with it up close and personal. You then get to go underwater walking, which is where you put on a helmet that provides you with oxygen, and you climb down a ladder to the sea floor just 15 or so foot below the boat. You walk along holding a railing and are given bread into your hand by your skubadiving guide, at which point hundreds of fish swarm around you to nibble away. This is followed by an amazing seafood buffet and some time to relax in hammocks by the sea, or go swimming some more. A well organised and worth while trip! 10/10
