Full description
Head to the old capital of the Incan Empire, Sacsayhuaman, for an archeological treat before traveling to Qenqo for a lesson in mummification. Finish the experience with a trip to a Peruvian ranch for a chance to try out horse riding with memorable landscapes.
After your hotel pickup in your hotel, head to the archaeological site of Sacsayhuaman on the outskirts of Cusco. See the heart of the famous Incan Empire. Discover all about the architecture, function and importance of the city, and why Sacsayhuaman is one of the best examples of Inca engineering.
Next, drive to Qenqo, a huaca or designated Incan holy place. Learn about the mummification of ancient royal people that took place in a cave located on this archeological site.
After this, head to a ranch near Sacsayhuaman where you will meet your horses and muleteers. Upon arriving at the ranch, a guide will make a brief induction to horse riding and how to lead them safely. Horses will be selected according to your experience and mood.
Start your 1-hour ride into the National Park of Sacsayhuaman, comprising 6000 acres of territory. Along the ride see amazing views, pass by some potato farms, some new excavations and with luck some local animals such as llamas and alpacas.
After your ride, squeeze in some visits to Tambomachay, an ancient temple dedicated to water, and Pucapukara, an ancient Incan fortress.
Finish up the day with a transfer back to Cusco city.
