I bought tickets for this tour after I had read some reviews about it. I thought "Ok, I bet it won't be as perfect as the reviews say, but it sounds interesting". It was way beyond my expectations. I honestly (with 0 exaggeration) believe that this tour could not have been any better. It was perfect. I have been to Rome before, have had guided tours in the colosseum and other places too. But this tour was the best. Legit, I cannot express how amazing it was. With the help of VR, the history is told in the BEST way possible, fun yet detailed and effectively informative. Christina is a sweetheart, she made the experience x10 better. Marco is the best guide. Other than being a lovely person, I was astonished by the detailed knowledge he knows of Roman history. No matter what you asked, he knew the answers in details. Names, dates, you name it. The guy is a historian. I wanna write so much more, but there's a limited word count, dammit. Conclusion: Worth every penny. 100% recommened.
We were a little disappointed by the vr experience. The graphics were outdated and we literally stood out front of the colloseum in a small group with the goggles on. We were starting to think we weren't going on an actual tour! The information was just reading narrated paragraphs in the vr sky. After an hour we finished the vr and got separated into our proper tour groups. Our guide, Marco, was very informative, answered all questions we asked and truly had a passion for the history he was explaining.
It was a lot of fun! The guide meets you outside the coliseum and teaches you how to operate the VR goggles. You can see the outside, inside, and underground of the coliseum. The graphics are pretty outdated but it is cool nonetheless. Then a guide takes you inside the coliseum and leads you through the different levels. Then he takes you to the Forum to explore on your own. Lasts more like 3 hours than 2. The line waiting to get inside the coliseum was horrendous, so you definitely need a tour.
I can’t recommend their tour enough. We had two small children and were not sure how interested they would be in visiting the Colosseum. The VR experience showed them exactly how the gladiators fought and how the Colosseum looked at the time. They absolutely loved it and were able to appreciate the Colosseum once they were inside. I would highly recommend this to anyone. Great guides who went above and beyond.
There were some minor technical problems with my viewer because of the heat, but the guide sorted them out quickly and the VR was absolutely amazing! It brought the whole place to life and explained the history and purpose of the Collesseum really well. I loved it and would definitely choose to do this again, when I am back in Rome one day with my adult son!
