Full description
Discover one of the best things to do in South Island New Zealand on this one-way Mount Cook day tour that will take you from Christchurch to Queenstown via Aoraki Mount Cook National Park. Featuring six stops along the way, take in major highlights between the two cities including the dramatic scenery surrounding New Zealand’s highest mountain.

Depart Christchurch in the morning and board your deluxe coach. Journey through the lush farmland of Canterbury Plains before stopping in Lake Tekapo. See the famed Church of the Good Shepherd, as it sits in picturesque solitude on the shores of the lake, and admire its surrounding mountain views, including Aoraki/Mount Cook itself.

Continue your journey and to Mount Cook Village where you can enjoy a tasty lunch, walk one of the many short hiking trails, or visit the Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre. If you are feeling adventurous, you might even like to take a scenic flight and see the natural landscape from above, which can be arranged on the day with your driver at an additional charge.

Traverse the Lindis Pass, the highest point in the highway system of the South Island, to Lake Dunstan and its nearby orchards. Visit the Jones Family Orchard where you can learn about fruits grown in the region and even sample some, fresh from nature. Arriving in Queenstown late afternoon, you will be transferred to your hotel and then will be free to explore the adventure capital of New Zealand at your leisure.

A good tour but quite tiring indeed.

January 30, 2020

-See English below- Much too little time at the interesting places. While coffee-drinking was let out for over half an hour at a cafe / souvenir shop, only a quarter of an hour was scheduled on Lake Tekapo (including going back and forth). The second lake we have not seen at all / have definitely not got out there. At Mt. Cook one had then one hour. The described possibility of exploring the trails is really cheeky, since even the shortest way with 1 hour only signposted way. It is therefore impossible to walk for more than 15 minutes before you have to turn around to be on time for the bus or to quickly go to the bathroom. Overall, a lot of driving for too little time at the actual highlights.
