The tour was very enjoyable and informative. Our tour guide was Connor and our group was 14 people. We went to maybe 10 locations in the Loop area. Stories about Al Capone and his gang highlighted by locations still present. Several tragedies were told about at their locations including the SS Eastland sinking and Iroquois theater fire. Tour took a break at the historic Palmer House hotel which has many very ornate decorations. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and made the stories interesting.
Our docent was very talented in her presentation and knowledgable about Chicago’s corrupt past. She told us everything, starting with Streeterville and moving into the Northside and Southside Gangs and the creation of the FBI. We got to stand in areas where John Dillinger walked and died and visit buildings where the Southside Gang (led by Frank Nitti) planned its criminal activities throughout the city. It was a fascinating presentation... I’d certainly take this tour again.
Great guide. Great tour. Interesting and well worth the time and money. Highly recommend to any person interested in historical buildings and information. The inside of the buildings are absolutely beautiful and one would never guess from the outside. Saw Several Tiffany domes and Tiffany designed lobbies. The Pedway if fascinating.
Really good information about the Chicago crime and mob, however, a video to go along with the presentation would have been great to show what the buildings looked like, since so many of them are no longer standing, as the driver gets to the place where it once stood.
Our guide Rick was entertaining and knowledgeable. Also accommodating- let us change our tour time for earlier in the day. Found it helpful to get us familiar with the area, which we returned to the next day. Very limited stops- more of a drive by kind of tour.
