What people are saying about Chania

Great trip in the countryside with Dimitris, GS Tours

The trip "7 villages of Apokoronas " turned out to be a wonderful day out. There were only 8 people in a minibus, each of us were picked up and dropped off at our hotels by our driver and guide, Dimitris. We visited East Chanian area, Apokoronas. We saw a folklore museum (an old, typical Cretan house), a modern amphitheatre, a cheese factory, a raki distillery, a bakery... and had tastings. We learned a lot about Cretan way of life as well as the nature and the history of this island. We also had interesting discussions with the members of our group, representing four different nationalities. We had a tasty lunch in a village tavern served by Maria. A very enjoyable experience for anyone who is interested in real life and the traditions on Crete, life outside tourist resorts.

This was an excellent tour. Highly recommended.

Thank you Yiannis for a wonderful, informative and tasty tour. We loved your enthusiasm and detailed knowledge that you happily shared with us. It was good to gain an insight into Cretan village life. The raki, wine and cheese tours and tastings were excellent and the traditional lunch prepared by Maria was lovely. Many thanks to all involved for your hospitality and generosity. I wholeheartedly recommend visitors to take some time to enjoy and participate in this great experience.

Absolutely awesome and not to be missed!

This is a really excellent trip. Demetrius was such a lovely man and so informative and obliging, the villages were really interesting and a trip to a raki distillery and local cheese factory were the icing on the cake. Lunch in a local village square was also fantastic and the food was scrumptious. We would definitely recommend this trip to any visitor to Crete as you visit so many places and it's something you would never do on your own. It's also very good value for money.

Fantastic tour to see more of Crete than the city!

My friends and I loved this tour with Yanas. He explained a lot of the history of Crete and included native plants and fruits to the countryside. Our tour took us to a folklore museum, bakery, raki distillery, cheese factory, and lunch. Yanas has a great appreciation for the small villages that make up the culture of Crete. Overall, a great tour if you want to see the countryside of Crete and learn about the people that make Crete unique.

Incredible beaches! ...but lots of transit time

It's a great trip, well worth it - but be prepared to entertain yourself on a bus or ferry for many hours. It's maybe 11 hours total, with 3.5 hours on beaches and 7.5 in transit. Still great, nice views from the boat and bus, food on the boat, and the beaches are wonderful and well worth it. But bring a book!
