New York's most celebrated park is a favorite among locals looking to jog, sun-bathe, walk the dog, and a lot more besides, but it boasts an array of attractions to keep tourists and families happy too! Here are five highlights.
The Lake is the scenic location of so many landmarks that no visitor should miss rowing its waters past the Bethesda Fountain, Wagner Cove, and beneath the Bow Bridge.
As well as the main Central Park Zoo and Children's Zoo, there's the Hallett Nature Sanctuary. You can't visit the latter alone, but check online for guided tour schedules!
Bring 2 forms of ID to this quirky castle for a free discovery kit. Check out the view over The Ramble's meandering trails and streams, then venture forth to discover its wildlife!
If you're visiting New York over the colder months, there's no need to avoid the outdoor park. Its ice skating rink has become of the city's most iconic winter attractions!
Confused? You have every right to be! Located across from where John Lennon was murdered, the Strawberry Fields Memorial is now a designated quiet zone.
Although the park is open daily from 6:00AM to 1:00AM, specific areas and attractions differ. Be sure to check the hours of your intended attractions online or, alternatively, book a guided tour to guarantee covering its best bits!
There are many Subway stations within walking distance from Central Park, but the ones directly across from park entrances are 72nd Street, 81st Street - Museum of Natural History, 86th Street, 96th Street, 103rd street, and Cathedral Parkway (110th street) on the B and C lines; as well as 59th Street - Columbus Circle on the A, B, C, and D lines; 5th Avenue/59th Street on N, Q, and R; and Central Park North on the 2 and 3 lines.
It was just beautiful. Tour guide, the company everything was super organized. When we were at meeting location our driver was ready for us. He was so professional and really friendly. When other carriages were passing by we realized that their drivers were not like our driver. They were just driving the horse. But our driver was talking to us explaining everything about park answering our questions about city, park... I just felt like super special. Thank you so much for that awesome tour.
With the New York Explorer pass, we selected the 7 most important sights. Then I started planning the days. I got to know the subway and bus transportation in New York and planned where and how to go. Now I’m nearing the end and enjoying it more and more. I’ve been to the U.S. several times, but I’ve avoided big cities by far so far. However, I was in almost every National Park. I think we will enjoy that too.
A different vibe from MOMA and MET; friendly staff; would like more display on valuable items ; really appreciate that there's a lot of display about China and used a neutral perspective (especially in this tense environment)
Provided you with great information in an entertaining way. The guides were informative well beyond the scope of telling what it was. I enjoy the historical perspective with a touch of humour added.
Louis was our driver and Dante our horse. It was a great adventure and we are horse people, so we loved getting to learn about how the horses are chosen, get vacation, etc. Thanks!
