Full description
A short swim through the crystal blue water will lead you into the amazing realm of Actun Tunichil Muknal. Then working your way through a breakdown leads you to the main water passage, where you get to enjoy amazing geological formations such as sparkling stalactites, stalagmites, and flow stones.

This hidden chamber promises to reveal ancient secrets and geological processes that have helped to shape the Mayan underworld known as Xibalba. Years ago, our ancestors believed that only priests could have venture and communicate with the gods through rituals and ceremonies. The Mayas believed their gods had dual faces – they could be both good and bad. They therefore made offerings to the gods consisting of food, blood, or human sacrifices for rain, fertility, hunting, and agriculture.

Xibalba was the fearful world beneath the face of the earth, the parallel unseen other world into which kings and shamans could enter in ecstatic trance and please their gods for their benefits.
