Top 7 Places to Visit While In Casablanca

Chances are Casablanca isn’t going to meet romantic Hollywood expectations. But, as the largest Moroccan city, it’s the place to get to know the culture, history and people of Morocco. It’s also a great, centrally-located base for adventuring down the coast.

Hassan II Mosque

El Jadida

There’s no other city in the world like El Jadida, a Portuguese city of Morocco. Visiting is an incredible experience of cultural influence and exchange between Morocco and Europe.

Planning Your Casablanca Visit

Currency: Dirham and Centimes

Money can be confusing in Morocco, so try to get used to the currency before you arrive. 10 dirhams is generally about one US dollar and one dirham is made up of 100 centimes—think dollars and cents. Here’s where things get tricky: people will use different unstandardized monetary expressions like “rials” and “francs,” meaning 20 dirham or one cent, in different parts of the country. For this reason it’s especially important to confirm with a seller exactly how many dirham or centimes an item costs.

What To Wear

It is generally true in Casablanca, Morocco that showing a lot of skin isn’t polite. This isn’t just for women, even men shouldn’t wear shorts in public. Casablanca weather might bring you down, so pack breezy, light clothing.

What people are saying about Casablanca

Highly Recommended - On Time and Professional Service

My wife and I used this car service to transfer between our Casablanca hotel and Marrakesh (it's faster to drive than take the train). The driver arrived promptly at our hotel at the agreed time, and loaded our luggage into a clean and modern van. He was friendly, professional, and a great conversationalist (he spoke English, French...and several other languages). He drove safely, and even stopped for us to take a short break at a nice rest-stop and cafe on the main highway. When we approached Marrakesh, he called our Riad to ensure the manager was available to meet the van and guide us to the guest house - this was immensely helpful (and critical) as finding your way around the Medina of Marrakesh can be challenging. The trip took approximately 3 hours in total. I am very happy with this service - it's essential for those traveling in Morocco. Thank You !

Will use again in all our (many!) travels!

Both our guide, Larby, and driver, Ali, were outstanding! They listened to what we wanted, rather than doing a set tour, which was important to us. Larby was extremely knowledgeable about all the sites and spoke excellent English. Ali was beyond patient and (much to our surprise!) insisted on coming back to pick us up at the Medina (two hours beyond the end of the tour) to take us to our restaurant. This became all the more amazing when we got hopelessly lost leaving the Medina and he had to wait 45 minutes for us - and come find us in a different place... All with not only no complaints, but just reassurances to me not to worry! Then at the restaurant he took pains to make sure the doormen could explain to the taxi home where we were staying as it is not a major hotel and often difficult to find. Could not recommend more highly!!

Private Half-Day Guided Tour of Casablanca Reviewed by Patricia, 07/03/2019

Excellent way to get to know what Casablanca has to offer.

Abdul and Assiz were most welcoming and informative. Abdul adjusted the itinerary to show me cultural aspects of Morocco that were of interest to me, including an exciting new art gallery and the location for Rick’s Cafe. He was very informative, answering all my questions thoroughly and his English language was very good. I would have been a bit overwhelmed in the old Medina if I had attempted to visit alone. When my camera battery ran out he took photos on his own camera and sent them to me. Abdul’s driving was excellent and the car was very clean and well maintained. I highly recommend this experience to anyone wanting a taste of Casablanca.

reliable ride from Casa airport right into Marrakech!

Our driver was very good. He was there on time, even though some of our guest were stuck going through customs for a bit longer than expected. He found a spot right out front and did a couple loops so as to not get charged....He was helpful with bags, etc. and then he whisked us away to get to Marrakech. He even set up someone from the Riad to take our bags for us from the spot the driver dropped us off. He didn't speak much English, even though it was indicated that he might, but using my broken French and Arabic we were able to communicate just fine. Highly recommend this affordable service.

Highly Recommended - Very Professional Driver and Service

This service made our transfer from Casablanca Airport to our Casablanca hotel easy, comfortable, and hassle-free. The driver was on-time and waiting for us in the arrivals area of the the airport with a sign that had our name. He took our luggage, and brought us to the awaiting van. The Driver was very professional, and had a clean and modern vehicle. He drove us to our hotel and provided great commentary about the sights we were passing along the way. I would recommend this service to anyone traveling to Casablanca.
