Full description
Meet your guide at your accommodation in central Cape Town and then set off in an air-conditioned minivan to begin your full-day tour of the Stellenbosch Winelands.

Soak up the views on a scenic drive through Stellenbosch’s historical center to reach Babylonstoren, a Cape Dutch wine farm surrounded by vineyards, orchards and the dramatic mountains of the Drakenstein Valley. Should you wish, an early morning wine tasting can be arranged at this stop. Experience the simple daily rhythm of a working farm; spanning over eight acres, every one of edible varieties in the garden is grown as biologically as possible – supplying a remarkable organic Green House Deli & farm restaurant - a foodie heaven. Enjoy a meandering walk along this exceptionally well–preserved 'werf' garden grounds dating from 1690, inspired by the Company Gardens of the Cape and the mythical garden of Babylon.

Learn about South Africa’s winemaking culture before savoring the estate’s finest wine varietals, located at Marianne Wines in the heart of South Africa’s oldest and most renowned wine route. This unique pairing of premium wines with specially selected cured and dried meats is a true celebration of local heritage. Tasting notes may include Springbok, Beef, Kudu cured meats paired with Pinotage, Merlot & Cabernet Sauvignon.

Following your roughly 30-minute journey to the nearby breathtaking green Devon Valley, soothe your sweet tooth at Clos Malverne, where you’ll pair your wine tasting with artisan ice cream.  An innovative taste combination pairing wine tasting and homemade artisan ice cream. The head chef develops the flavours and aromas each season to get a great match. Sample some of the delights on offer that may include creative blend of fruit of the season, chocolate, nuts, vegetable, herbs and spices ice-cream matched with Sauvignon Blanc; Methode Cap Classique, Pinotage and more. (Ice cream styles and flavors are seasonal, and may differ from time to time.)

The last course on this Taste the Winelands Tour offers a unique wine philosophy that is literally music to the ears (and taste buds). Sip on the Maestro wines as you're lulled by the baroque music drifting through the tasting room and estate. Follow the music on a whimsical walk through the vineyards behind the gabled Cape Dutch building and enjoy the Reserve Syrah while standing in the vineyard block it was harvested from.

Your full-day tour then concludes in the late evening with a drop off back at your Cape Town hotel.

Please note: The wine estates visited are subject to availability and the itinerary order may change without notice. On weekends some wine estates are closed, so alternative wine estates will then be visited. Pairing styles and flavors are seasonal and may differ from suggested guideline above.
