A lovely day out on a fine Sunday with a great Guide and Driver!

The morning rain soon cleared by the time we arrived at Leeds Castle with lively and interesting commentary throughout all the day by Sue and careful driving by Cheryl. With it being dark by the time we got to Greenwich, for the return boat trip, the cruise was even more enjoyable with the lights of the riverside buildings and historic sites illuminated! Sue ensured everybody knew how to get back to their accommodations before she parted with the 'multi-international' speaking group. My only complaint was that the map I was sent with my booking confirmation, 'supposedly' detailing where the coach was to pick me up, left me waiting for half an hour at 7.30am on a cold morning in the wrong place!! At 8am, with nobody else waiting, I ask two Megabus workers if I was definitely in the right place and they advised me the Golden Tours pick-up place was undercover in the middle of a building much further down the road. As a Stroke sufferer, I didn't appreciate this extra last-minute rush!

Location was amazing, timing and van had issues though

The van was 20 minutes late leaving the start location due to checking in other buses? This left us with exactly 16 minutes at the cliffs if we wished to move on to see the castle also. Plus the guide did not do a very good job wrangling people at the stop for bathroom break only. Time was wasted because tour members did their own thing instead of come back in time. The guides should have gone inside and guarded people from going beyond the bathroom ( to the cafe) to avoid this. The headset in the van did not work and she had to try and talk loud for everyone. This included trying to talk over the loud Italians that should have been asked to stop talking so she could give a proper tour. The driver could not figure out the heat controls on the van. In the am we were freezing and the afternoon we were roasting. Multiple people gave feedback, but it was just explained that this was not their normal van. Not much talking happened on the way there. Guide was sleeping for most of it.

great daytour without tourguide/native driver only

First of all our driver "Darren" was on time at the meeting point 08:30am. The meeting point was easy to find according the instructions in the booking. Our small bus was fully booked with 16 people. There was NO other tourguide so our driver tried his best to tell us a little bit while driving us the whole day but he was very hard to understand due to his accent and also due to the non proper working loudspeakers on the bus. But he was helpfull, water an sweets/mints included for all of us during the day. At all stops we had enough time by our own to explore the locations eventhough our driver missed the correct driving direction once or twice. 1. Canterbury (1,5h) 2. Whitecliffs of Dover (1h) 3. Leeds Castle (2h) At Leeds Castle Darren organized a reduced entrance fee, this was great! As there was a traffic jam in the evening back to London it took us a bit longer to come back. Drop off at 08pm. All together a great experience.

Garreth the guide made the experience even better!!!

Very nice trip, the white cliffs are amazing and the Cathedral in Canterbury as well. We would like even better time in Dover though. We hiked to the lighthouse and lively cafe of Mrs Knotts. The weather turned better so we saw over to Calei! The green and blue against the white cliffs was so great, and in the end og May there were lots of flowers as well. Being the busiest ferryport in Europe we would like some time in the town and harbour as well! Canterbury is an old and nice town, the Cathedral was under refurbishing so we missed aut a bit because of that, but that is a good thing after all. Incredible to see the architecture and the fantastic Art with leaded glass. In the crypt a choir was practicing giving us a lovely cast! Garreth the guide was full of stories, from to day and a lot of history, doing it in and fun and interesting way. Thank you for this great day!!!!

Amazing tour even when the weather wasn't the best

Great tour guides, they were very friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend this tour. The weather wasn't the best, but the tour continued and the tour guides were very witty and helpful in recommending places to go and what was worth seeing. I went to the Cliffs and also went to the Dover Castle. The Castle there is a discount for 2 for 1 on the Kent website, which made it 10 pounds a person which was very reasonable. The time was a bit rushed, but it comes with the territory of trying to see 3 things in one day. I wish we spent more time in Dover and less time in Canterbury though. Overall great trip, try to look at weather if possible before booking to try to get a clear view of the cliffs.
