What people are saying about Burano
It was nice and easy to meet at the meet-up point, a bit difficult to follow the tour guide to the boat as there were a lot of people all walking in different directions - busy part of Venice. Once at the boat she checked through all the different languages and was very good at speaking with everyone. We all got on the boat and had a smooth ride over to Murano. The tour guide told us the plan and the time to be back at the boat. We went in to a glass blowing factory and watched the amazing demonstration of a man making a vase and a horse out of glass, we then went through to a little gift shop. I took a walk down the main street to take some photographs and then headed back to the boat. We then went on to Burano, I personally think 1.5 hours is plenty of time to spend on this island, it's easy to walk around the whole thing in that time and is very busy. Overall I'm so pleased to have done it. Nice break away from Venice to see more.
I really liked our guide Kristina. We learnt alot from her and about the islands. We travelled in a beautiful boat and I really liked, that our tour group was quite small. I liked the glass blowing demonstration. I would have prefered to stay in Burano a bit longer. We didn't even get to look at the island itself. Murano also felt a bit stressful. I feel like the tour should be an hour longer, so that you would have enough time to see both islands. We didn't get to look at the houses, the shops AND sit down for a coffee. Next time I would probably get the public transport bus and take my own sweet time to visit both island.
Four of us took this trip and on the whole we thought it was good value for ney. 2 things spoiled it for us, firstly the guide was rather abrupt and certainly when we were waiting at 1pm in the full heat of the sun with no shelter at all and she just sat in the shade on the boat and told us we had to wait for a further 4 minutes it was not the right thing to do.
Our guide Alessandra was exceptional- she was fun, energetic and extremely knowledgeable. She took the time to get to know each participant and answer all questions. She even gave us some personal recommendations for Venice. Both islands were great but the glass factory on Murano was the highlight of my time in Venice!
Would have liked to have seen more of Murano, although the glass making factory was interesting - would definitely have liked more time on Burano and Torcello as a glimpse is all we got. The timetable was pretty tight and we did leave a couple of people!!
