Full description
Discover the secrets of Argentinian cuisine on this cooking class. Your local instructor will show you the proper technique to make each dish and explain their history, as well as teaching you about the different culinary traditions in the country. You'll be welcomed with alfajores and a cup of mate, a herby hot beverage, then start your cooking class.

If the Market option is selected, start by visiting the Market of Progress, a 130 year-old historic and still-functioning gastronomic market, where you'll pick fresh and organic ingredients for your meal and occasionally get to try Argentinian treats. Next, make a brief stop in the English District to observe its architecture. Finally, you'll arrive at your instructor's home for your cooking class.

Make the dough and the fillings for meat and corn empanadas from scratch, and learn how to make Argentinian-style dulce de leche pancakes. During a short break you'll get to try a typical salami and cheese platter. Once you have finished with the cooking, sit around the table to enjoy the meal you’ve made all together, paired with Argentinian red wine.

We had a wonderful day with Shir in BA. The gourmet market was full of wonderful fresh food, and our visit was followed by a scenic stroll through the historic English neighbourhood. We then went up to Shir's immaculate apartment, where we learned how to make two types of empanadas, and toss pancakes like a pro. Then we ate local cakes, a cheese and meat platter, drank wine, ate our freshly made empanadas and finished off with pancakes and big spoonfuls of dulce de leche. Shir was great company and the perfect host, as were the other two guests. What a great day out! Highly recommended

This was a great class with an amazing host! We started off going to a local market, then cooked empanadas, shared mate, ate picante, and finally made dulce de leche pancakes! Shirly was a great host who was very funny and knowledge about cooking. Her apartment was extremely nice and she even gave us recipe books to take home! I would highly recommend this class as it has been one of the best things I have done in Argentina for a very reasonable price!! An excellent option for any age group!

Excellent Cooking Class in a small Group with an adorable teacher

At our first day in Buenos Aires we decided to do a cooking class and were overwhelmed. We both like to cook and have eaten lots of empanadas already but never prepared them on ourselves. Learning how to prepare them was much easier as expected thanks to the great skills and patience of Shir - a young, open minded, very positive minded and interested girl. Shirl was already awaiting us once we arrived and then we first enjoyed some mate tea, she explained us a lot about the tradition, the rituals and some forth. In addition this allowed us to get to know each other. One could quickly realize that Shir is very interested in the exchange with us as well, which made the stay very pleasant. We then started to prepare the empanadas (vegetarian and meat) and it turned out that it was very simple. We enjoyed the combination of the cooking class in a private apartment and getting to know a lovely person that hopefully meet one day again. You're always welcome to visit us in Switzerland :-)
