What people are saying about Budapest

An intimate dinner in a private apartment with best local Jewish food!

We've decided to join Marti at her apartment as we do not enjoy the commercial Tommy the Tourist things. Might I add that although it is in an apartment, it is not where she lives as by law, you are not allowed in Hungary to offer cooking classes or offer these services from your apartment. (So it's stylish and quiet and in the middle of the Jewish community) Marti was such a vibrant girl, with a very good education and background who has a passion for cooking. She cooks recipes from her husband's Grandmother's books and the Granny is still alive to teach her! She tells you many stories of the history of Hungary and the Jewish people, but what we've enjoyed is that it didn't feel like a text book version. She lives the life of a Jewish's wife every day, so it comes from her heart. The cool drinks were home made! We were suprised about the quality of Hungary's wines and Marti knows her wine as she grew up in the wine region. The food was EXCELLENT and TASTY. Marti was a real joy!

Jewish Private Dining Experience in Budapest Reviewed by Marinda, 01/11/2018

An excellent must try introduction in Hungarian traditional foods!!!

This experience was a gift for my wife and the best gift she receive (in her own words). She always wanted to learn how to cook gulas stew, but never quite made it at home, so we took this opportunity and we are very glad we did it. First of all, we stayed outside Budapest and Marti's husband Peter was so kind to came and pick us up from hotel (Aqua World) showing us Budapest sights until we arrived at the market. There we met Marti and were introduced in market history. We bought fresh ingredients for our dishes (we wanted hungarian fish soup, goulash stew with dumplings and apple pie) and we ate langos (also a must try experience in Hungary). After that, we went to cook!!!!! Great experience, great teacher, family made palinka :) and natural sirop (juice from fruits), Hungarian wine, and of course, great food. After the meal, Peter took us back to hotel were we relax the rest of the day. Thank you Marti and Peter, we look forward to see you again!!!!

Couldnt have asked for anything better-Marti was absolutely amazing!

From the minute we met at the food market, Marti gave us so much useful information about the history of the market, the food and the customs in Hungary. Arriving at her beautiful kitchen and preparing the food was beyond what I expected. Marti made the entire experience worth every minute we spent with her, and our meal was amazing. Thank you, Marti, for making this experience one of the best of our experiences in Budapest. If I ever make it back for a visit, I hope you're still doing the food market and cooking yours. I would definitely be back for more.

Excellent, fun class! I highly recommend it.

This was a first rate cooking class. Set in a lovely kitchen perfect for a small group. Marti has a lot of experience, she not only teaches you about the food, but some Hungarian history too! She even gives gluten free options. The recipies were clear and understandable, I can't wait to make them for my friends. Hungarian food is so different from California cuisine- sure to be a hit.
