Full description
Begin your introduction to Hungarikum in Budapest's famous Great Market Hall. Walk among the stalls admiring the fresh produce and local products before trying lángos (fried flatbread), a typical Hungarian streetfood. Enjoy it like the locals do, with sour cream and cheese, and wash it down with a refreshing fröccs (soda water with fruity wine) or a mulled wine in winter. Hear the funny story about how this bubbly drink came to be from your guide.

Next, hop on the bus and head to the Unicum House, home of the world-class traditional digestive liqueur, the Unicum. Learn the history of this popular liqueur from its creation in 1790 until today. Visit the cellars, see how it is made in large oak barrels, and taste the 3 most popular flavors.

Continue to a beautiful and newly renovated square in the center of the city and visit 2 Hungarikum stores. In the first, taste and learn the key differences between foie gras and patès while enjoying some samples along with some wine from the Hungarian wine region, Tokaj. Nearby is the Herend Palace, where you can see a beautiful display from one of the largest and oldest fine-china manufactories in the world. Meet an artist from the world-famous traditional porcelain producer and even try your creative skills by painting with her support.

Hop back on the bus and head to the next stop, chimney cake tasting. Try 3 different flavors of these delicious and fluffy Hungarian sweetbreads and even receive a takeaway gift. The last stop of the tour is the Pálinka Museum, located in Budapest's Jewish district. Here, try 3 types of pálinka or pálinka-cocktails with a typical Hungarian snack and visit the interactive museum to learn about the pálinka distillation process. At 3:00 PM, say goodbye to your guide and feel free to continue tasting and shopping in the museum.
