Full description
Home to one of the most famous counts in literary history, Transylvania is a must-see destination on any visit to Romania. On this full-day tour from Bucharest you will visit the historic region exploring the influence of different cultures, including Romanian, Saxon, Turkish and Hungarian.

Depart from the Romanian Athenaeum on Revolution Square at 08:00 am and head to the historic region, bounded to the east and south by the dramatic Carpathian Mountains.

Drive into the Transylvanian Alps to Sinaia and Brasov. Sinaia was named after the Biblical Mount Sinai and is known for its beautiful late 17th-Century Byzantine monastery. You will visit the neo-classical Peleș Castle, built on a medieval route that linked Transylvania to Wallachia.

A highlight of your cultural excursion will be the afternoon visit to the medieval Bran Castle. Better known as Dracula’s Castle, it is associated with the real Vlad the Impaler who became the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s famous vampire Count Dracula.

The afternoon section of the tour also includes a short walk in Brasov, where you will get to sightsee the medieval town, one of the largest in Romania. Tour the historic streets and take in sights such as the Council Square, Black Tower and Black Church to get an idea what a typical old Transylvanian city looked like.

At the end of the day, take in the gorgeous mountain scenery as we drive you back to Bucharest for a drop off back at Revolution Square at around 20:00.

This was a great day out. The two castles were both spectacular (the inside of Peles is incredible). The drive through the mountains was enjoyable too, with lovely scenery along the way. Brasov was also well worth the visit and the guided walking tour showed us some of the main sites before some free time to explore. It's a packed itinery, but did not feel rushed.

the day was full on and Mr Riga was very accommodating and nice throughout. We went on Monday so it was just the 3 of us so we had a private tour:) there is enough time to see the castles, stop at a brewery for a drink etc. The day is definitely worthwile and price more than reasonable even my children enjoyed it and that's a real achievement

It was the best choice to discover the Romanian scenery in Wallachia and Transylvania. Both castles deserve your visit. Brasov is a jewel. It is a huge advantage to make this one-day trip with a small group of people; it will save you time and you will better enjoy it.
