Full description
The tour departs from Bucharest and travels toward Fagaras Town, a former political-administrative center. Here, you will be able to see the only fortress in Romania surrounded by a moat. In the early seventeenth century, the city became known as the princely residence of Michael the Brave. Between 1948 and 1960, the fortress was used as a prison, a belief that was supported when in one of the towers known as “The Iron Lady,” medieval torture devices were found. Nowadays, the Fagaras Fortress hosts the Fagaras Country Museum and the Municipal Library.

After visiting Fagaras Fortress, the tour heads toward the heart of Germanic Transylvania to the city of Sibiu which is divided into two distinct areas: the Upper Town and the Lower Town. Commerce was more developed and prosperous in the Upper Town which made the Upper Town wealthier than the Lower Town which served as the manufacturing area. Then, you will visit Brukenthal National Museum, the Large Square (the historic center of Sibiu), the Little Square, the Liars Bridge, the Ethnographic Museum and Evangelical Church. Afterwards, the tour will end with a return transfer back to Bucharest.
