Full description
Visit the Văcărești nature park, right on the outskirts of Bucharest and discover the beauty of this swampy wetland surrounding Lake Văcărești. The view will be great for photo sessions, so bringing your camera is highly recommended.

Start your adventure at Brancoveanu metro station, where you will meet up with your guide. After a short walk towards the park, pass through an abandoned amphitheater built after orders of the notorious dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu - also a great setting for taking pictures. Once you enter the Văcărești Nature Park, explore the paths and walkways, take pictures, and maybe even see some wildlife. Your guide will tell you more about the park, about what Ceausescu had in mind for this place, and what he wanted to build in this area.

After exploring the park, visit the Bellu cemetery - one of the most interesting cemeteries in Europe. Admire the stunning monuments and a burial chamber, or cavou, built on the basis of indications received from the spirits of a young Romanian poet.

Next, learn about Iulia Hasdeu who was the daughter of a famous Romanian writer and philologist and the first Romanian woman to study at the famous Sorbonne University in Paris. Hear more about how she contracted tuberculosis and died at the age of only 18, leading her father to start communicating with her spirits and build a vault supposedly after her wishes.
