What people are saying about Brasov
The tour itself was really good and the guide was amazing. However, we went during the "off season" for tourism but the weather was still nice so we had to wait quite awhile at Peles Castle to get in. This took up a lot of time for our full day. I advise you to bring something to eat on the way (although they say you're not allowed to eat on the bus) because the first place you will stop that has food is at Bran Castle and we didn't get there until around 3pm. But even then, you have to hurry inside the castle and then hurry up and eat at one of the stalls or restaurants at the bottom of the castle. Brasov is so incredibly beautiful to just walk around and enjoy the scenery and you will have plenty of time to eat there. We ran into a LOT of traffic on the way home and didn't get back in to Bucharest until 11:30pm so be warned of that because it is a possibility. But, like I said, the guide was great - funny and very friendly.
This day tour is absolutely superb, greatly exceeded my expectations. Tour guide Alene (Allen) was amazing, very personable, and shared a wealth of historical information. Logistically, I don’t know how else you could take in all three sights without a tour like this.., it is a full 12+ hours, the mountains are cooler and wetter than Bucharest, so dress appropriately, and recommend saving an appetite for a bistro in Bravos Square (look for locals). All round great day!
We really enjoyed our 12 hour trip to Transylvania. Thevtwo castles were magnificant and Brasow is a lovely town. the scenary is magnificent. Our driver, Adrian, was very considerate and kept us all entertained on the journey. He was an excellent and careful driver. All the staff were very knowledgable about the areas and venues that we visited. I certanly recommend this tour which is great value for money.
The trip was private and it took us to three churches, one of which wasn't even officially open as a museum. Our guide spoke to the caretaker and she opened a chapel with frescoes, not available to the public. The guide was knowledgeable and slightly quirky; he sang Ave Maria in the second church and helped me find a book on local legends.
Out guide Florin took a small group of us in his minibus on a day tour of the key sites in south Transylvania. He fluently conversed with our mixed English and Spanish speaking group and was interesting and informative. He allowed the right amount of time at each venue including shorts breaks for lunch and souvenir shopping.
