My fiancee and I had the best time with our guide Yuly. We met at the hostel/hotel and then went to get breakfast. The breakfast was at a local spot and it was great. We had option of tamales, caldo de costilla, and eggs, coffee, juice or chocolate. Afterwards, we went to Choachi and had some stops to learn more about the native plants and their properties; we also had the opportunity to try the coca leaf to help with elevation sickness. Throughout the breakfast/lunch, car ride, and hike, Yuly was very talkative, knowledgeable, and informative about the indigenous culture, the Andean mountains, the Chorrera, and the food. Yuly was also very responsive when we slowed down or stumbled over steps and she walked at a great pace for my partner and I. We also had the best arepas with guava and cheese of our lives!
I'm so happy I booked this tour! It was an amazing experience and I loved all of it. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable of the local flora. He introduced and explained a lot of things to us, thought us a lot about Colombian culture. The waterfalls were so beautiful, but during the hike we get to see and experience the swift changes of ecosystems which is so much fun! The hike is not too easy, so be in good health or have some general physical endurance. The tour also includes a breakfast and dinner at a local place with typical for Bogota dishes - it was super tasty and the owners, a married couple, were really friendly. I liked that we get to taste local food and help a small business grow. P.S. try every snack or food that is offered during the trip - you won't regret it!
We had such a great time visiting La Chorrera and just a magical day overall. Our guide Freddy was so friendly, knowledgeable and genuine. We ended up spending extra time on the hike, getting to see some additional parts of the park, and he never rushed us or made us feel like we had to skip anything. I went on this adventure by myself, but made some new friends and we just had such a great group and wonderful day. You cannot believe this amazing natural park is just outside Bogota. Highly recommend!
This is a must-do experience while in Colombia. You get beautiful city views on the drive to/from, wonderful lush surroundings throughout the hike to and from actual waterfalls, and it’s just all gorgeous. There are some semi-challenging bits, but totally worth it. Our guide (Nick) was fantastic, very kind, informative, and super helpful. The breakfast and lunch were pretty great too!
i'm so glad we booked this tour! the hike was a little difficult for me, but it was a fantastic experience, and we really enjoyed the day. fredy was our guide and he was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. i would definately book another tour with him!
