What people are saying about Black River

Excellent dolphin swimming, sadly no whales but a choppy boat ride

Overall a good experience, especially the very patient manner before the dolphin swimming. We went into the water with a guide and in pairs while we saw people jumping from other boats like maniacs when dolphins were passing. Really sad to see but our skipper and guide kept calm, followed the dolphins leaving them plenty of space and when the crowded ocean went quieter, it was our turn and we had a pristine experience. Only downside is that the ocean was too choppy that day so other than getting soaking wet sitting in the back of the boat and being shaken through, there was nothing else to see. No whales, which is ok. But the crew could have stopped looking for them much earlier as the conditions made a sighting very unlikely. Instead the crew could have checked the wellbeing of the three poor souls on the back bench (a young woman, my wife, me) and offer another seat or ask the other attendants to switch seats. Instead we had to argue about seats with a very ugly German couple. Nasty!

My son loved this trip - parkouring steep descents, trees and rocks.

This trip is not for the faint hearted! Our guide was lovely- the hike is more of a trek/scramble in the rainforest but the views and waterfalls are breathtaking- note that if it has been raining, it will be slippery underfoot so be careful and wear appropriate footwear. We were a family of four- all of us physically fit, but both my husband and I slipped on the steep descent. The company organised a taxi to pick us up and bring us back to our hotel and the taxi driver was also very friendly and happy to share his knowledge.

Fantastic hike with a well experienced guide

What a beautiful place! If you are on Mauritius and you are not afraid of height and a little exertion, then you definitely have to take part in this awesome hike onto the Le Morne Mountain. Bryn is a well experieed mountain guide who brings you safely up and down and gives you a lot of interesting information about the place and the island itself. You will be rewarded by a breathtaking view over the soutwestern part of Mauritius. Absolutely fantastic and absolutely recommendable!

Outstanding and unforgettable Experience!

This tour was just amazing! Watching the dolphins and snorkelling with them was an unforgettable experience! I would also like to mention the respectful handling with those great animals! Afterwards we went for Whale Watching and got the chance to see 7 whales in total - it was so impressive- I can‘t describe this experience with words! I can only recommend this tour - a special thank to our skippers: Julien and Fabian! Thanks a lot!!!

Incredible Tour with an remarkable view and an excellent tour guide

Thanks to our passionate and competend guide Bryn we made it safely to the too and back. It was an amazing day with a lot of interesting facts about Mauritius. We enjoyed our early morning hike and received some amazing pictures and videos that Bryn took during the tour. Due to the steep passages we would not do the hike without a guide an the additional insurance! Thank you Bryn for an unforgettable day!
